1 over par 72 at Timber Greens. Had 3 birdies all on the back. Hit some great shots, especially my fairway woods. Started off bogey, bogey and then it was off to the races.

Shot an 88 in the cold rain yesterday. Still struggling with my swing and I basically make a par and then a double to offset it.

I did win $32 as I got dragged into a grudge match and we took Front, Back, Total and had some junk. My partner also shot 88 and after the first few holes we zigged and zagged perfectly. I got wet, but food and drink were free. The degenerate gamblers also had their own side bet, but only $5 exchanged between them.

I played this morning. A beautiful day with temps in the low to mid 70's and low humidity.

I struggled with my swing on three consecutive holes on the front and then again the same thing on the back. Putting wasn't great either. But I managed to get it together for a string of 10 holes after the struggles on the front. Then I started pulling things hard left. I did manage to par the last hole. The round was also reasonably quick, 3:45.

Played 9 after I spent 4 hours collecting trash and a backpack blower. Split my day between those 2.
My 9 started off with a chip in birdie on one. A bogey on 3. A one putt birdie on 4. One more bogey on 6. And a bogey on 9. Everything else was a par with birdie putts on 3, 7, and 8. I also hit a nice little draw on 3, 4, and 8. I was so close to going around in even par... I missed it with one bogey, or a missed birdie...

Played poorly today. 86 with 6 greens and 37 putts. Driving was okay but everything else was not. I could not make a putt. I had 2 three putts which is only 1 more than average. But only 1 one putt, which is way off. And that one putt was a tap in.

48/42 today. All the rain we've had made the rough long and it was difficult finding balls in it. The fairways were soft and not giving much roll so the course played long. I had a bad start, carding an 8 on the first hole. I drove the ball pretty well but only 4 gir. Seemed like I was always 175 out. I did make a 30-footer for birdie to start the back nine off much better than the front.

I shot 38-37-75 at Carrington Golf Club in Monroe, Michigan this morning on a PERFECT day for golf.....sunny and 75 degrees. Two birdies, 13 GIRs (not quite sure where that came from!), and 33 putts. Funny how once the damn
chores around here are basically done, the golf game comes back!!

Played 18 today, rough start to the round. Went double, double, single, triple.... man, I was struggling on the 1st 4 holes. I was hitting my 5 iron off the tee on 1, 3, and 4. I'd be lucky to get it past the forward tees. My second shot was a better shot, on all of those holes. I finally pulled my driver on hole 5. Somehow I managed to hit a nice high, draw. That hole is played over a ravine, or from hill top, to hill top, with the low point being 150 to the green. It's about 350 yards. I had about 100 yards left, and my ball rolled back down hill about 20 yards from where it landed.
    I ended up 51/43- 94. I had 3 pars, 7 singles, 7 doubles, and one triple bogey.
I started to hit my driver decently. I started to keep my feet close together, that way i cant try to force anything with it. I still had a few that got away from me, nothing out of bounds with my driver, just to the right in the rough. I did pull draw my 6 iron OB, on 16. Used the drop zone, and hit my 60° pin high from about 75-80 yards.
It was a good way to destress from the morning's frustrations and news.

Shot a 45. Awesome iron striking but one 8 and a 4 putt spoiled what was one of my best iron days. Trying to tame a Ping SFT driver. Never had one that goes left so easily

Played 9 holes, -1. Hit the new to me Vapor pro irons and really likes them. Ball flight with my irons was much better. No 2 way miss, my little draw was back. Off the tee I was fine. Did find myself swinging tentatively though. Putting was still meh. One piece takeaway seems to have fixed my irons and maybe driver. Did some putting after the round, moves in a little closer ( noticed it in my notes later) and I was rolling it better.

KCee Good I guess? What is better to you? Playing good or winning a couple bucks? Just sitting here thinking about that.

Typhoon What is better to you? Playing good or winning a couple bucks?

Good question. I think I'd rather play better, but if I was playing better and losing that would be pretty annoying. I went through that a few years ago. In all honesty right now I probably would b*tch either way. My personal life and work have put me under a lot of pressure and I could be one duck hook away from snapping my driver in half and I've never broken a club in anger.

I didn't actually win any money last night, just my match. Kind of an odd match, this big young guy is hitting his hybrid farther than I can hit driver and had fantastic touch with a wedge, but struggling with too much draw in the wind and some of the worst putting I've seen after hitting 2 long putts on the first 2 holes. Not sure what happened to him, but by the 3rd hole I understood why he wasn't giving me a bunch of strokes.

The format that I play most of the time is a four man team against 5 or 6 other teams. The payouts are pretty broad and shallow. A team has to really suck for all 18 holes to lose their whole ante. We are in for $10 apiece, and I think I speak for almost everyone when I say the highest individual priority is to get our $10 back. Second is to actually win some money. Third is to shoot well.

However, after it’s done, if I’ve shot 75 I’m on Cloud Nine, and for 85 I’m ready to buy some clubs. Regardless of whether I won $3.50 or lost it. Winning does feel good though. 🙂

I hate to admit this, but playing bad golf that raises your handicap, but still gets you money is really a win-win.
