KCee From how you describe things you need to play within yourself and you’ll win. Someone hits it close by accident and you decide you have to hit it close to beat him and then end up missing the green, no up and down. He could 3 putt and still win the hole.

Hit hybrid smooth off the tee on the doglegs. On approaches just play for the middle of the green. Take enough club so only your best shot would would fly the green. Aim for the middle. Hit greens… be putting for birdie. Just because he hits it close doesn’t mean he’s making the putt…. You might be outside him and your putt puts the pressure on him.

Have started as of recent to continually remind myself of these 2 exact things on every hole I play…it is too easy to just naturally aim for the flag if you don’t take a few seconds to think about the shot…

Typhoon Are you telling me to play smart golf? Do I have to give up beer and bourbon too? 😉 You're right though. I shot 79 the last time I played smart. I had no driver swing or short game so I played smarter....except for the triple on #11. The way I'm hitting it now I should be shooting lower.

Unless the tees are up I can't always hit my 5h far enough to get a good look. I think I need a 3h or 4h that I can swing smoother with or maybe a 5w or even 7w would work. A few years ago I wasn't always getting the 3w to the corner and now I'm going through. I guess it's a good problem.

KCee If you’re good with hybrids, a forgiving 3 hybrid would be the choice. My only hybrid is an old TM Rescue mid. The TP version sucked for me. The game improvement version is aces!! I gave up sex for better golf scores years ago and haven’t looked back.

I can't remember the last time I had sex. My youngest will be 20 in Sept so.....

          That’s a good starting point

40, 41 today at Lee's Hill. Dry, hardpan conditions gave tons of roll but made for crappy iron play (even with my hybrid irons). Drove it well, chipped and putted well enough. One double and I birdie.

46/48 in the senior league. I was on in regulation the first 3 holes. Then I sucked the rest of the day. Only 1 more gir. I felt tired the last 5-6 holes and my swing was a mess. It wasn't super hot for Texas but humid. I'm not looking forward to July and August.

42 last night. 7 on the tough, extremely uphill last hole overcooking a drive left, when only a 3 or 5 wood is all that’s needed. Got to be smarter.

MidwayJ I'm not looking forward to July and August.

This is bonus weather right now. We are on borrowed time.

I plan to be in Ireland and Scotland for the first half of August. It's not a golfing trip but I will get to play a little. I'll probably be freezing, lol.

Par 71 again, probably for quite a while still. I shot 78 with 6 greens and 29 putts. I finished with a 3 putt which killed the joy a little. 2 birdies from great approach shots. Our team was not good and we finished DFL. Ten bucks down the drain.

This was a hybrid-free game today. First time in a long, long time. But the 6 iron that got put into play was lousy instead. And the 27 degree 9 wood never hit a green either. So I dunno. Those two spots in the bag have been jinxed for a long time. And I have several shots a round with them. I need to try something different. Maybe a shorter heavier hybrid. I have Pinhawk 5 & 6 hybrid heads. I didn't like them when I tried them, but I'm getting desperate.

The new to me Jetspeed 7 wood is very good. I didn't try the new 3 wood today. It's funny but the actual FGS Plus shafts seem to be better than the equivalent iDrive Tour shafts.

Had planned to go to a better course but got talked into putting in a light fixture so I ended up just going to the slumpbuster near home.
3rd hole in, the head flew off my driver. Surprisingly the drive still went 185 and in the fairway. The head went about 50. Bad thing is I couldn't find the screw. So I moved up to the senior tees to finish the round and used my 3 wood. Shot 76 with two birdies, one a par 3 from 150 to 18".
Played in 2 hours 10 minutes. All my best rounds are alone or with one other person where we play in under 3 hours or thereabouts. I can't seem to keep my concentration for 4.5 -5 hour rounds. Played a 5 hour round Tuesday where I shot 37-50. And before that a tournament round where I had a good front nine and sucked on the back that we played in 4.75 hours. It's always something.
I'm kind of wondering if the loose head played a part in the 50 on Tuesday. I was really striping the driver till the 12th hole when everything started going weak right. Found water right 3 times on the way in and today everything was right in the tree line till the head flew off. Sounds like a reasonable excuse.

Had a weird game this morning, but decent score of 78. Only 5 greens, with 30 putts. On the front nine I got up and down 5 of 7 times. The back nine, only 1 of 6. I missed several “Rorys” on the back, including less than 3 feet for birdie. The heat was wearing me down. Monday afternoon is gonna be a challenge.

The Acer XDS React 6 hybrid made a very good case for a spot in the bag. I’m going to build its 5H sibling.

Back at the home course finally…my boy & I knocked out a quick 18 tonight…had some swirling/gusting wind for a few holes due to a thunderstorm that skirted us but then it finally settled down..

                  10 FWs, 6 GIR, 34 putts
                  Carded an 83…

These Ping iE1’s are staying in the bag…have not had these kind of dispersion results with irons for a damn long time…if ever…something about this set of sticks is just working for me…
