I shot 38-42 with a birdie and a 7 on a par 5 on each nine. šŸ˜”
Didnā€™t keep stats once again, but it felt more like an 85 than an 80. My short game is carrying me lately.

Well, I finally dug out the score card from the other day, and added up my score.
48/55- 103.
90% of my high scores was lost balls, mostly off the tee.
Hole 7, par 5, I did get an 8 without losing a ball. I did that fading my tee shot into the right rough, not getting back to the fairway. I tried to shortcut it and go through the trees, I just didn't get it far enough. At that point, I did punch back into the fairway, put the ball into a bunker, duffed one, chipped out, and over the green, chipped onto the green, and 1 putted for 8.
The next hole,#8, par 4, I snapped my drive to the left, off a tree and ob. Reload, 2nd ball was a beautiful straight drive, brush a few leaves on the eucalyptus tree, and saw it bounce once. Never saw it again. Took a drop, hit my ball short of the green, chipped on, 3 putted. If I'm counting right that is a 9...
Hole 10, par 4, skulled my 5 wood, and it went 60 yards, hit an upslope and barely made it past the yellow stakes, hit my 7 iron, and the ball disappeared. Took a drop, hit my 9 iron, and promptly hit the only tree branch sticking out. 56Ā° put it short of the green, chipped on, made the short putt.
#13 par 4, tee shot hit a tree to the left and ob, reload, hit the ball a little bit to the left, over the trees this time and put the ball into the left rough. Out of the rough and into the fairway, next shot left me just short of the green, chipped on and past the hole, then 2 putt.
Hole 18, par 5, tee shot went high left into some trees, I hit a provisional, that looked like it went further, along the same line. I believe I found my 1st ball, went to punch out into the fairway, and didn't make it. Hit my next shot and and made it to the edge of the rough. My next shot flew high, and faded into a large tree 180 yards away. I then hit an iron to the left of the green and into the rough, I was avoiding hitting another branch. I chipped onto the green, and 2 putted for another 8....
Maybe I need to not play with that buddy... I don't seem to play well when I play with him...
We do have a good time though, so maybe that is worth the scrappy score..

Spring Shootout today. We finished 7 out of 50 some teams to make shootout. Won a skin. We lost on last hole to finish 2nd. I played well first 18 but my partner was a stud in the shootout. I hit it like sh*t but he made putts from everywhere.

    Walterjn

You should maybe shift your focus for a while from speed training to keeping the ball in play. I have a feeling the speed training has your entire swing in a funk.

One other thing, when you play with friends itā€™s nice that you have a good time butā€¦What used to happen to me was Iā€™d be so caught up in conversation that Iā€™d hit a shot, come up short and say to myself ā€œwhat are you doing?ā€ I really noticed it when I stopped playing there and all of the sudden I started playing better because I focused on the game, not my friends. Talk to your friends afterwards.

Tried my new swing on Thursday after shooting 78 on Tuesday. Shot a less than impressive 91. Figured something out when I got home and played again today. Shot a 78 again and hit the ball great. I think I might be on to something.

Typhoon definitely time to start hitting a proper range and working on my driver.
Probably a good idea to have a few solo rounds as well. Speed training is going to take a back seat, and happen once, maybe twice a week.

Walterjn FWIW Walter.....I have a buddy (good player!) who tried speed training last year. He spent $400-500 on a shaft and various weights that he was supposed to attach to it and swing every day, according to the instructions. He said he felt it screwed him up and gave it up after about 4-5 weeks.

            garyt1957 Iā€™ll give you a week. šŸ˜€

No, really, give it a good try. Youā€™re gonna have bad days. When you do, go home and it will probably become clearer.

fatshot not playing with weights to swing. This is what I'm using.

              Not expensive, not heavy.
So far, it hasn't screwed up my irons, then again I play with those every week. I've been playing my little executive par 3 course. No place for me to really hit my driver, aside from one hole, and that can go bad if you don't hit it straight.
The range at this course is only 200 yards, so I can't hit my driver there, and they have signs requesting that the range be irons only.
So, I don't use my driver very often at all.
I've been working on my irons there, and playing the course irons only. Not a difficult thing as the longest hole is listed at 257 on the score card.
That's working out to a good 4 or 5 iron, then a wedge. If I screw it up then, it can be a bad 4/5 iron, then a 7 iron, maybe a 9 iron.
My driver has been out of the bag, until I play a full size course. Then I'm struggling hit it well. I need to break down, pay the $ for range balls, and really work on my driver, and play the larger courses more.

fatshot yeah, she's not hard on the eyes...
I just don't get to do anything with her...
When I day not expensive, the sets I'm using are these. Kid brother got me one of every color.
                https://aero-swing.com/products/aero-swing-pineapples-doubles
I've given 2 set away for a couple other people to try.
I have a set at home, on a driver shaft. I also have a set in my golf bag. If I don't get a chance to hit some balls, I can pull that out, put it on my club and swing a few times to loosen up a little.
They claim that both full size pineapples weigh about the same as a driver head, so the weight issue isn't really anything. It's all done with air resistance.

20 of us are taking the team game to Hot Springs Village for the next three days.
Hereā€™s the view from the balcony of one of the houses we rented. Itā€™s the 18th hole of one of the courses weā€™re going to play.

DonM Stayed there and played a couple of courses way back in 1998. They were great. Don't remember which two now though.

Shot the on course temp, 76....38/38.
11 FW. Ones missed were only a foot or so out, but...the ones hit were almost dead center, so.....big misses?
                  27 putts, again.
Only 6 GIRs, which may be a record for me.

Played with 2 drivers, both had stiff shafts in them. Did manage a few drives around 230, but that flex is not going out with me again!

Played the new MacGregor VIP irons. The heads themselves were very nice, great feel, almost like a forging when struck 'properly'šŸ˜„. But, I got nothing from another build with shafts that are apparently 'my flex(A) & weight of the past'. I lost a lot of yardage due to the shafts flexing wayyy too much; a lot of very high shots that just dropped and stopped. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with them. Hate to pull the shafts(I can't use them and few here can/will) and rebuild into steel. I've got others ready to try.... (SMT 579 w/R flex steel).
A lot of rainy days coming this week, again, so I'll probably be figuring something out. And keeping busy.

Do I have to mention the wind in every postšŸ¤”, jeeeez......76-80* here, you used to be burning up. Now, it's kinda cool.

Got my butt kicked with an 88. I didnā€™t count putts but it was 40+. Driving and approaches were pretty good. I couldnā€™t get the ball to the hole and I was playing safe on approach shots so I had a lot of long putts. CPO and hilly terrain made for a 5 hour round. Itā€™s rare to have a level lie here.

The course played long and I think tomorrow the captain is going to switch us to the silver tees.

77 at Timber Greens. Had two birdies. We were paired with a single this morning. Turns out we had played together before. Heā€™s going to join us on Mondays. First out this morning. Went around in 3:15.

For the last few rounds I got my 84 year old buddy to move up to the shortest tee at 4119. The tees are painted blue. So he can tell people he plays off the blues. lol Today he shot an 88 (47-41). Had 5 pars on the back.

The difference is now he has a decent chance of hitting greens in regulation. Whenever we get paired with someone he lets his ego get in the way and says heā€™ll play the reds. But I drive the cart, so heā€™s forced to check his ego at the door and play the blues. lol

Played 9ā€¦ felt like I shot 100. Shot even par but hit it awful. Didnā€™t hit one good shot. Went to the range afterwards. Gonna play tomorrow, was thinking of 18 but Iā€™ll probably just do 9 and get some work done. Hitting the Stealth 2 with a regular flex shaft. One more day of that and Iā€™m going to take out the G400max again for comparison.

Back to reality. Played 18 today at The Gauntlet. My VA PB Dye-abolical home track. Two weeks of rust results in an 86, but I usually don't break 80 here. 2 doubles and a triple in there. Good times tho. Beats the hell out of dealing with moving. The Paradym X still rules.
