I am gaming a putter from a good 15 years ago that attacked the problem a different way. The insert is softest in the middle and gets gradually firmer out toward the toe and the heel. Thus a ball struck at any reasonable point on the face goes about the same distance.
Direction is affected because ir is not a high MOI putter, but when the distance is not affected much, three-putts become a lot less common.
I played in the muck today, with decent weather.
83 with 6 GIR and 31 putts. Irons still sucked but I'm going to work on them a lot this weekend.
Driving has been excellent since I moved the ball back, and started turning my hips on the backswing. I've picked up considerable yardage, which is fun. Who knew you are supposed to turn in a golf swing, and not just swing with your arms?
The big news is that I am in love. I test drove a LAB Golf Mezz 1 putter today. One of my buddies here has upgraded to their latest one and is selling this one. I made all sorts of putts with it. None for birdie, unfortunately. I am able to hit my line with it a lot better than I can with other putters. Yeah, yeah, honeymoon, blah blah; I'm buying it. Price to be determined, I am at his mercy. He was playing with me and every time I made a tough putt, someone would say "the price just went up". 
I always liked the Mezz in the stores but never could pull the trigger at those prices. But the damn thing works.

I had a nasty hernia on the left side the past few years, and a small one on the right I knew nothing about. Never realized how costly it was, in terms of golfing, to just 'let it go'; not much turning to be had. Got it rid of them and now, like you say, tee shots are markedly improved, distance wise. And still straight! Been an improvement also in the fw clubs. Just got to get the iron swing back.

The simās that I have experience with have two long horizontal sensors that are flush into the carpeting towards/closer to the screen that are parallel to each other and maybe a few feet between themā¦and when you hit it on the green the software normally gives you a ālineā that displays on the bottom of screen to aim atā¦I ācheckā my ball in at the normal turf hitting area so it registers with the overhead sensors and it turns green and then I roll the ball forward onto the carpet area to putt it at the yellow ālineāā¦just gotta be careful to keep your ball and putter head behind the first horizontal sensor in the floor when you putt.

The screen shows you a grid like a video game worth balls rolling across it in whichever was the slopes are on the green. The info box in the lower right corner tells you how many inches or feet uphill or down hill you are going and how long the putt is. So you have to play the break, not just putt at the middle of the screen.
Itās 14 feet to the screen so that helps a bit but chipping and putting are the toughest part.

The SIM I go to allows you to change the aim point on the screen so every putt is actually straight into the screen (off the same mat you hit full shots from). Much better than screwing around with your putting stance. Speed is still the hard part.

I think I may be inaccurate with the above statementā¦it might also be overhead sensors for the putting as wellā¦I will pay more attention on Monday to confirm as we play our 1st round of the playoffs and then a doubleheader 2nd round if we happen to win the firstā¦
When I first started at indoor golf our SIMs were āPar T Golfā sims. Had a projector , film strip and a projector under a platform you stood on to play. It was a two level thing with ramps on either side of the projector beam. There was a control panel up where you stood to hit from. There was an actual cup you putted into from letters on the floor on both levels. Letters we different distances based on where you ball landed on the green.

Similar for me, except numbers instead of letters, and, there were small mounds and slopes on the floor similar to mini putt. It was awesome at the time.
This happened in Quebec on a trip there (it was not here in Ontario) so when I came back and told everyone about it, they thought I was on drugs or something. LOL
Typhoon Around here in MA a lot of winters we get those 60 degree days and people run to the golf course, wait 3 hours to get out to play once and then not again for another 6 weeks.
Yea, I did that in the past. Went out NY's Day one year , it was 60ish. No tee times, 20 groups lined up to tee off, went back and got a refund.
48/46 in the senior golf league. I wouldn't usually be very happy with that, but I went 2 over par over the last 6 holes to sneak into the money (6th place in my flight). I rescued myself from feeling totally defeated after a horrendous stretch of 7 holes at 16 over par. I also won a $62 skin with my lone birdie.
84 at Timber Greens. No birdies. Went out third at 7:52 because of daylight savings. Finished at 11:38. Only two of us this morning. Cool morning with a low dew point, something we will miss in the not too distant future.
