I used to pay close attention to the yearly ball test, but take it with a grain of salt. It is good to see the #'s as long as I've played one of the balls and it's a known commodity to compare up against the others, otherwise it's essentially useless. They are paid and I don't trust what they say, especially their own conclusions of the data.

ode If you'd take time to learn how to putt correctly.....ball dies in hole.....you'd not be worrying about nonsense.
And 'flag in/flag out' is just that, nonsense.

fatshot Here is the test I saw.....

Interesting test, they use putts that go 3, 6 and 9 feet past the hole. If I am inside on 20 feet, I had better not miss a putt that would be going 6 or 9 feet past the hole. Heck, I would need a 50 foot putt to think 6 feet by is ok, and I still would not be happy with that.

And yeah, if you are hitting putts 6 or 9 feet past the hole, you bet the numbers would be substantially better with the pin in.

All it took for me is one 5 foot putt going in, and getting rejected by the pin to make up my mind. I want my good shots to get rewarded more than I want my bad shots to get lucky.

Typhoon in fairness you probably hit your 7 iron farther than they hit their driver.
And grammar experts. Do you hit your driver farther or further?

rsvman2 I always leave the pin in. Simply out of laziness. I only remember two times where I felt it hurt me for the whole year. Definitely helped more then that with a few hot putts dropping after hitting the stick. I don't think it matters one way or the other statistically over the course of the whole season.

garyt1957 And grammar experts. Do you hit your driver farther or further?

I looked this up the other day. If you can measure it, then it’s farther. Like a mile farther. So you hit your driver farther than your wedge.

But it’s not real cut and dry.

DonM Agree, farther is a literal measure and further much more subjective/symbolic. I think of it as when reminding a bud I seriously kicked his ass with my drive that went further than theirs. However, the distance farther might have been inching past.😎

        76Β°, 30-40 mph constant wind.....who loves it?
I do. Always have liked playing in the wind.
And I now know what a 'red flag warning' from the weather service is all about, as there was one today for this area.🀨

Had seemingly little effect on any of my drives, and only a few of Jake's boomers. Was still hitting drives past where was normal from the past couple years. A couple, longest ever on the particular holes; both allowing me to reach 2 Par 5 holes....in 2!! Eagle putts were narrow misses.
Didn't really do anything great nor bad, had 30 putts, which is over my norm. But in my defense, I was having a few GIRs. That is not normal.
        I only used 2 irons today....GW & SW!! Strange.

Jake hit a couple that just were head shakers, esp. with the wind as it was. 568yd. Par 5 he was driver/mid iron to 12'(missed the eagle). Had a couple more drives over 350 also.
Great fun, great day, even if I did have to load the pockets with balls to keep uprightπŸ˜„. Kidding aside, I was nearly blown off my feet more than a couple times.

I think the hernia removal/repair job is working, at this point.
Just can't wait for hot weather, fast/hard fws.

btw, shot the temp, Jake was @ 74. shitass.🀨

          43-41
Played Whirlwind Devils Claw today. Driver was much better, no penalties today!! Had 33 putts with the LogicalOne 3 putter for its maiden round. Best round I have had in some time and it felt like I was actually playing golf. Going rate for this course right now is $250. Thanks to my buddies buddy who gets a Tribal Discount, we paid $53 each.😁

Mattyv Had 33 putts with the LogicalOne 3 putter

I think they should have skipped the 3 and went right to 4. Every time I read that it reads as "The Logical One 3 Putter". Who wants a 3 putter? I want a one putter.

81 at Timber Greens. Had two birdies (back to back). Off first at 7:00. Did the front nine in 1:40 and the back in 2:29 because they have members that go off the back and we run into them. All in all a nice morning for golf.

46/42 today. I hit the driver pretty well but my favorite shot was a three wood off the tee on #18. The hole curves left with water on the left side all the way down. I hit it really solid with a perfect draw for the shape of the hole. The higher front 9 score was mainly from butchering the 8th hole into a triple. Iron shots and putting were just OK but any score under 90 is decent for me.

I shot 40-39-79 today at Giant Oak GC in Temperance, MI. GREAT weather.....high of about 76*.....and the course was in surprisingly good shape for having just opened a week ago. Hit 6 GIR, 1 birdie, 31 putts. I didn't chip or
putt as well as I would have hoped, but still glad to be playing in shirtsleeves in Ohio in early March!

              Back to reality for me.
85 with poor iron play and some other crap.
              7 greens, 31 putts.
Had a triple and a double.
Our team sucked and I think we will lose our entire ante.

              Bah.

DonM Back to reality for me.

You're trying too hard!! And def thinking too much. πŸ‘πŸ˜‰

                Let be, what will be.
The only thing you are ever going to beat/beat up, is yourself, which is what you are doing every time you are 'disappointed' with anything mid 80s. Relax, play golf. I hear it can be fun.
