DonM A few of us were saying it out loud lol. I've gotten used to a round being no more than 4 hours and waiting constantly now makes me a cranky old man.

I have been enjoying hitting the driver again lately though; I hope this swing resurfaces in the Spring when its warmer, but maybe it's all the layers of clothing helping restrict my overswinging.

79 at Heritage Harbor. Had one birdie. It was cold when we went out at 7:17. Once the sun came up it was a little better. Went around in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

Shot 90 at Twin Creeks, Allen, TX. We got a late start after a frost delay but it warmed up nicely to a beautiful day. I made some good shots but my swing was very inconsistent. I birdied the par 3 #2 after nearly acing it, but followed that with an 8 on #3. The fast greens got me today, too. I didn't count them but I know I had more than 36 putts.

Beautiful day here today. I played but quit after 10 holes because it was super slow and I was getting grouchy.

But I wanted to say, the KE4 FDI driving 4 iron shows some promise. I used it on a 170 yard par 3 with the idea of making an easy swing carrying 150 or so and letting it run to the back pin. And it did. Of course I didn't make the 12 foot putt! I also used it to par a long par 4 by running it up beside the green and then chipping close. This is one of the few holes that is open in front. I think for me it probably would carry about 165 max, same as my 5 hybrid but with more run out. Height is reasonable but it's going to run. If I played a course with run ups to greens, this club would be great.

I didn't use it for any fairway finder tee shots yet. That would have been hole 15. I guess the point is, at 38 inches it's probably a lot more accurate than a utility wood or hybrid that goes the same distance. I have to decide if the trade offs are worth finding a spot for it in the bag. I kind of feel I could consolidate two hybrids into one and not lose anything there.

sdandrea1 I might get to play next Thursday. This is weird.

Ditto Friday......supposed to get up to 50* and sunny here!!!

We’re gonna be at 50 as well. Nothing much open around here and what is will be stupidly packed. I’ll go down to the club and use the range.

79 at Tarpon Springs. Had 3 birdies. Three of us this morning and we went out at first light and were done in 3 hours. A little cool and windy, but comfortable nonetheless.

39/46 at Plantation, Frisco, TX, with 3 GIR on the front 9 and 4 on the back! 85 is a good score for me but that back 9 pissed me off! 🙂 Three par saves on the front vs. zero on the back and a 3-putt GIR. Topping two balls into the water didn't help, either. If course a par on the last to reassure that all is not lost.

Your round is a good example of why the new handicap system may not be optimal. 🤔

Typhoon You on a diet? No lunch??

Yes. Plus because of the winter rates we save a little eating lunch at home.

Eguller Why is that? Isn't the most significant change for 2024 the addition of "course rating minus par" to the calculation of course handicap? How would this change affect the impact of rounds like this to one's handicap index?

Spartan didn't understand that at first. I'm used to winter rates that are cheaper than summer

Yeah, we’re in snow bird season. The rates go up drastically. January thru March being the highest. We get a discount card that lowers it.

For example one course we play a lot is $59 during weekday mornings. With the Paradise Card it’s $35. Then it’ll go up after Christmas to $41.

Whenever we're trying to book the Tampa golf trip, many course rates jump up the end of Feb. One "high end" course would be about $85 weekday mid Feb, but a week or 2 later it would be twice that and $250 weekend.

I wouldn't know. We'd never pay that. On the Paradise Card for example Fox Hollow is $75 after Christmas. Right now it's $47. With our card most of the courses jump up after Christmas thru March.

Then in April they come down. Then we get the summer card which is from April thru October. TPC in Lutz used to be $41 on the card. Now it was $125 until 12/10 and is now $149 thru March.

Summer is the best time for locals to play here. Rates are much more reasonable.
