I’ve been avoiding this thread as I look out the window at snow. Especially frustrating after playing 4 times last Jan/Feb. But…we’ve now had some rain and some days in the 50s on the way. I’m hoping the courses may open up on the next few weeks.
How did you shoot today at Golf

Jelopster Around here in MA a lot of winters we get those 60 degree days and people run to the golf course, wait 3 hours to get out to play once and then not again for another 6 weeks.
I never bothered. I like to end the season on a good note, not going out for one round after a 2 month layoff, crappy course conditions and hit it lousy. Now I have another 6-8 weeks of stewing on how bad I hit it.
I’d rather just do the indoor golf thing. It doesn’t feel like real golf so you don’t work at it, you just swing.
Typhoon I always debate skipping our winter golf trip just because I know I will play lousy. I start hitting the ball decently the 2nd round, but I still don't score well. I actually don't mind taking December and January off from golf, but I start getting antsy after that and then I'll be one of those guys running out when it's 60 in Feb lol. The worst is when you get a couple of nice days in Feb, but then March and most of April is cold and rainy every weekend.

When I was up there a lot of guys put their clubs away when the first frost came usually sometime in October. My brother in law plays year round down on the Cape. His home course (Cranberry Valley) uses temporary winter greens, but there's many that don't.
They also play at Blue Rock in Yarmouth down on the Cape, which is a very nice Par 3 course. Depends on how badly you want to play. Tomorrow we have a tee time at 7:30 (sunrise is at 7:12) at Silverthorn in Spring Hill.
It's supposed to be ~ 40 degrees at that time and we could have a frost delay. Supposed to be sunny with little wind. So we'll just dress in layers and de-layer as it warms up. Might be ~ 57 when we're done.
We like fast play and like the early tee times, so we put up with the cold.
Played at Bear Creek GC in Murietta CA today. Tough course, with wicked fast greens. A few of the greens have elephants buried underneath them making them very unfair. The last one has two elephants. The pin was placed in the valley between the two elephants, with a pretty good back to front slope. So, if you are left, right, or back, it is near impossible to two putt. Luckily, my 6 iron approach made the front of the green, with a decent 20 foot look at birdie. I played for a two foot break off the bottom of the right elephant. Made a good run, but should have played three feet off the elephant. Putt broke in front of the cup, went past the hole about 3-4 feet up the side of the left elephant, and rolled back down into the hole for a birdie. SWEET!
Over the last few months, been having problems with a back muscle - right side bottom of the rib cage. I usually make it 9-10 holes then it starts hurting. Today, it hurt after 4 holes. Really had to dial down and adjust the swing today. Been taking 50 swings a day with a weighted club for the last couple of weeks hoping to keep my back from hurting, did not help it today.

80 at Silverthorn. Had an hour frost delay. Went for breakfast (western omelette) and got out at 8:30. It was 40 degrees when we teed off. But the sun was out and not much wind.
Won two matches and lost one. Won one greenie. Tied the extra hole match. Won $3.00. No over seed and very tight lies. It was 64 degrees when we finished. Chicken sandwich at Wendy’s for lunch.
81 today. One triple bogey on the card due to an OB. Good round otherwise......for me anyway.
Nice playing guys!
77 today, a brag, but FIRST round this year using my normal set (11 clubs) after 15 rounds with the Minimalist Bag (6 clubs). Actually clean the boards, that never happens for me in this group.
Doing the subset of clubs has definitely improved my Rhythm & Tempo. Less tension, a smoother swing, anxious to see how well this holds up into March. Practice rounds will still be using the Minimalist Bag, maybe mix up club selection.
Can't wait for temps in the 50s...
88 yesterday. Ugly.
sdandrea1 88 yesterday. Ugly.
Got you beat - 98 at Oakmont yesterday on a simulator...Can't wait to be outdoors but this is better than nothing...
84 at Heritage Harbor. Lost one match and tied two. Lost all 4 greenies. Lost the extra one hole match on #18. Lost $8.00.
Hit some nice shots, but the tight lies are what they are. Lunch was at Chicken Salad Chick. Carols Classic chicken salad sandwich with a cup of loaded potato soup.
Colder than a ‘bastid’ this morning. It was windy, but .
