How did you shoot today at Golf
Typhoon I just keep track of how many under or over par.
I just keep track of how many under or over bogey. I love red numbers. If I'm in the black, I figure I missed the cut and go to golfbuzz.com for tips.
84 on our par 70 today. Team got dead last. Double meh......
Typhoon Go to a driving range, get a bucket for $6 and dump it in your golf bag before you go there next time.
Had a guy on this week's golf trip that did that. One of the courses had water in play on pretty much every hole. I think he stole a dozen to go with what he had and I gave him a sleeve of mine with a few holes left lol.
Which course was that? He needs a ball retriever in his bag. Lol
Eguller What's the format/game your gang plays ?
Different game every Tues & Friday. Always a 4-man team game. Usually have 9 or 10 teams. Today was team quota based on 36 - course handicap. I had to get 26, team had to get 70 total. Net bogey = 1, par = 2, birdie = 3, eagle = 5. Highest total OVER quota wins.
We play 2 best net balls alot. Bookends a lot.....that's all 4 balls count on 1, 9, 10, 18; 2 best balls on the rest. We mix it up.
Sneakylong I think it was Westchase? And there was a LOT of water so you would need a boat and scuba gear to get most of the balls lol.

Sounds more like Fox Hollow. Westchase has some water. They used to let a guy come in at Fox Hollow with a small boat and a hydraulic winch with a net and rake the bottom of the ponds. They’d get tons of balls.
Sneakylong Almost positive it was Westchase, but just almost. First hole was a really short par 4 with water all up the right side. Next hole was a par 5 with a bit of carry over water. 3rd hole was short par 3 over a gorge with....water. I think I remember at least 15 holes having water in play lol. I do remember Fox Hollow having a fair amount of trouble, but it was still a bit cold and windy that day so keeping my hands warm was my main problem.
77 at Timber Greens. Had one birdie. Won one match and lost two. Didn’t win any greenies. Tied the two hole leftover match.
Lost $5.00. In our 6,6,6 game it’s all about ham and egging it. You can play well and lose money and play not so well and win money.
Meatball sub and a cup of loaded potato soup for lunch. It was cold this morning. Temperature wise not terrible, but low 50’s and no sun with a cold raw feel made it uncomfortable. But we survived.
85 at Twisted Oaks. Meh......
Sneakylong You can play well and lose money and play not so well and win money.
You just described my golf trip. I beat one of my buddies, same handicap, EVERY round and he wound up our leading money winner while I finished 6th or 7th out of 8. He somehow managed to pair well with every B player in various formats. I was the leading birdie maker, but of course we had no bet for that because we assumed our lone low single digit guy would win it easily lol.
I’ve been avoiding this thread as I look out the window at snow. Especially frustrating after playing 4 times last Jan/Feb. But…we’ve now had some rain and some days in the 50s on the way. I’m hoping the courses may open up on the next few weeks.

Jelopster Around here in MA a lot of winters we get those 60 degree days and people run to the golf course, wait 3 hours to get out to play once and then not again for another 6 weeks.
I never bothered. I like to end the season on a good note, not going out for one round after a 2 month layoff, crappy course conditions and hit it lousy. Now I have another 6-8 weeks of stewing on how bad I hit it.
I’d rather just do the indoor golf thing. It doesn’t feel like real golf so you don’t work at it, you just swing.
Typhoon I always debate skipping our winter golf trip just because I know I will play lousy. I start hitting the ball decently the 2nd round, but I still don't score well. I actually don't mind taking December and January off from golf, but I start getting antsy after that and then I'll be one of those guys running out when it's 60 in Feb lol. The worst is when you get a couple of nice days in Feb, but then March and most of April is cold and rainy every weekend.
