Sneakylong I hope to be playing Westchase (and a few other courses) in about 6 weeks.

Westchase is a nice course. Nice layout. The only complaint would be firm greens. Maybe they’ll soften up and be more receptive by the time you play them.

Sneakylong We played it back in 2018 and I remember it being nice. Unfortunately that day and the previous day it was incredibly windy and relatively cold.

Every year we go at almost the exact same time and the weather is always so much better the week before and the week after our trip lol. I keep saying we should move the dates in or out at least a week, but I'm sure we bring the cold with us.

82 today on The Gauntlet. Birdied the final hole after hitting my tee shot into a hazard that I thought I could carry. Ball is in the hazard (dry marsh) sitting up on a tuff of dead marsh grass. 6h shot off the marsh grass to a spot 20 feet short of the green. I putted from there and holed out. Nice way to finish!

Someone said that it’s impossible to stand too close to the golf ball. Might’ve been either Byron Nelson or Johnny Miller.

And I believe another line from a Tour Pro was it is possible to stand too close to the ball, but almost no one ever does it. Might’ve been Jeff Sluman.

I'm not Typhoon, but I do play golf. 🤣 He would say that it is better to stand to close than to far away -
far = too inside + flat. Close = more upright.

I'm standing too close to the ball after my shot rolls to a stop. I need the ball to be farther away after I hit it.

Eguller You are 100% right, and what was happening Dan was that being too far away ( I wasn’t reaching or anything), was causing a over the top move. Took the club back too flat and would come in steep. Standing closer gets my backswing more upright

I see my golf buddies as they age stand farther and farther from the ball - flatter swings.
Maybe it is a strength or flexibility issue. 🤔

Eguller I think it gives them the sensation of a turn. Their swings are getting shorter and getting weaker and can’t get the club up either.
