Had no plans to play today but golf_ghirl wanted a few holes - she has a medals final coming up but no comps before then, trying to keep her swing going in prep - so late afternoon, pencil bag for me, out we go. Joined up with another couple (*) and had a good laugh as well as some good golf, including a birdie for me (par 3 #15) and a couple other near misses. Taking a lighter grip with my driver, and honestly, it's way more consistent than white knuckling it. Keeping that in my game from now on.
(*) Absolute highlight of this or any other day, the other couple are good friends of ours, the female half golf_ghirl's usual playing partner. Earlier this year she suffered a heart attack, a shock to all of us as she's only 53, non-smoker, regular exerciser. She's been allowed "out" for a couple months now, then allowed to putt, followed by pitch/chip, and is now up to 4 clubs - 5w, 7i, PW, putter, but no full swings allowed. She dollies it around the course (in straight lines), is developing a heck of a short game and putting like she never has before.
Still waiting on a decision on treatment but so far, so good. She may have an op in her future but meantime it's just great to see her out and about enjoying what she can.
