Went around 3 times today. First time around, I shot a 35, my new personal best. My blow-up hole today was #5, tried for a nice draw and I sent it out too far and hit a tree. Tried to hit the green from where I was and hit a second tree. Got a nice triple bogey on that one... Otherwise I shot mostly par and 3 bogeys. Total of 6 over, so I'm happy with that right now.
The other 2 times around I shot 39.

We got thru 1, then she stepped in a hole and fractured/sprained her ankle. Waited 6 hours to see the doctor. Pretty much shot the day....

CallMeAl OUCH!! Sounds like my wife's "luck," I think she is accident prone, esp. with her feet/ankles.
She has fallen like that several times, over the years....

Not today, but since I’ve been gone awhile I’ll tell you I shot 83 and 84 last couple of rounds with the new G425 Max in the bag. I’ve been high 80’s all year with a big old high fade with the old driver. I’ve been trying to slow my driver swing down as I’ve discovered that I’m getting too quick at the transition. Hole 11 still chaps my hide though. That bastard still gets in my head even with a money driver. Last go round I hit a decent drive through the chute and landed short of the fairway bunker. With less than 200 to go, I pulled the 7-wood and hit a toe shot that went plunk short and right of the green into the wet stuff. Rattled, I dropped and promptly chunked a wedge back into the drink. Dropping another, I chipped short of the green. Calming myself, I announced to my playing partners that this one was going in. Yep, it did for a blistering 7. I hate that hole……

JeffTilley There was a hole like that on a course I used to play... almost always a double bogey or worse.
One day i just took out a five iron, pictured a green in the middlrmlf the fairway and pretended it was a par three. Hit a good shot and then hit another five iron to another pretend green further down the fairway.
This left me about a pitching wedge away. Pretended the hole was really a short par 3, hlt a good wedge shot to about 14 feet and lipped the par putt. I was happy to have a tap-in bogey, and I had a legit shot at par. It was the best I had ever done on the hole.
Sometimes it pays to really shake up the approach to a hole that has your number.

Somebody went out a shot a great round today. Played Quintero which is one of the harder courses in AZ. I shot a 41-41 from 6400 yards. Rating and slope from my tees was 70.6/134. Front nine was a driving masterpiece hitting 6/7 fairways. On a 520 yrd par 5 I went driver, 7 iron. Back nine, my driver had a case of the lefts but not so bad to end up in the desert. 9 pars, 8 bogeys and 1 dumb double on the day. Easily one of my top 10 favorite rounds ever. Today was a good day.

Went out early this morning and got sent off by myself. Tunes in the hearing aids and nobody to have to talk to. Shot a 40. Had put the stock Alta 55 S back into the Gmax and it was rockin. Was having trouble with the putting breaks on the wetish greens or coulda shot a 38 or better. 6 gir and my chipping was spot on. All in all a good start to the day.

43/38 today at River Oaks in Myrtle Beach. Almost felt like a player on a few holes. Just 2 bogeys on the back.

I'm afraid to say how well I like the Mavrik Max. The "yeah, but you'll sell it next week" shit storm will follow.

It's a very good driver, Rex. I still want to try it at standard length. It's a fairway finder.

I take 2 different drivers(combos of) out every round.....every round. Thing is, most of what I use can't be sold here or anywhere else because everyone is so damned spoiled today. I'm 1 of very few, that will still play those old 20 yr. old, old school, heads, apparently. They may not be as forgiving as these pancake heads, but that is on the swinger. They still got the POP & distance. And memories. (just have to resurrect the construction of, to fit today's age/ability 😉)

So I was playing yesterday and hitting some nice bombs with my White DCT 10.5. My buddy and I were paired with a couple of random dudes. I cracked one out 300 or so and one of the guys asked, "what driver is that?" Not bad for a club that was designed over 10 years ago.

Mattyv Yeah, I found a brand new 455DB head on Ebay a couple (2-3) weeks ago. Built it, took it out along with a Mavrik SZ of the same loft/same shaft/flex/length. I'm giving the DB a timeout until such time as I sell off any $3-500 clubs. I do not like clubs in my bag making fun of one another. Esp. 'the old guys', making fun of the newbies. 😉
The DCT has been much the same, except it would laugh out loud, at times.

Something I’ll try when I feel like I’m hitting down on it. I’ll actually take it more outside on the backswing and focus on dropping it to the inside on the downswing. Sort of think about how Jim Furyk does it.
