That timeline was further shortened by Golf Channel’s confidentiality requirements. He said Wilson had to set up “a private cell” at the production facility and secure an outside warehouse to store the product. He said employees working on the project had to sign confidentiality agreements that included a $1 million penalty for any disclosures.

Two things happening here. Some other media types hate the GC. I noticed in that article Golf Week kept implying and stated non conforming....that is incorrect as most of you know. Only the USGA can deem a product non conforming NOT golf week. Secondly, the USGA hates this type of behavior from a so called Major and worse by not submitting when they should have they are saying to the USGA we didn't trust you to keep our secret. So you just know that pisses off the USGA. I can tell you that if the USGA wanted to they could approve it in a couple days but Wilson didn't handle it right. They should have let the USGA in on it to begin with. Maybe.

You just know the other Majors are laughing at all this.

They still got great looking forged blades! At the same price point as all other companies, why would anyone buy them, though? Players go for 'name'. Even most members here do that.

Wilson golf equipment is fairly popular in Europe, so don't automatically assume the company has no geographical footprint simply because the company has been nonexistent in the US for the past 20 years. That simply isn't an accurate assumption.

That said, there's a reason the company lobbied to be one of the supporting actors in the Golf Channel reality series. They want to expand marketshare, but they've clearly gone about it bass ackwards.

you have to go by the numbers. And their numbers are weak in today's market. And that would include market share out of this country. It would be safe to say that 90% of their total business is most likely done in N America. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Just saw the "Triton" driver at Uinta Golf,at $499 didn't see anything special about this particular head.
But the sole plate does look pretty clean,not sure how functional it is.
Also the salesman said he sold one today, then I told him "but they're not even approved
by the USGA yet".
So he goes and looks on they internet and says,"hey you're right"! 🙂

One other thing. If and that's a big IF that club happens to sell thru no way are they not going to bring more in! Pleaseeee....!!!

I like the crown graphics, but I don't think the majority of people will like it.

The sole plate is simply for weighting....u have a 9g option and a 22g option which are held in by three screw weights, 2g, 6g, and 12g, which are interchangeable, so you could use any combo of the weights...that's a difference of 43g using the 9g sole plate with three 2g weighs vs. The 22g sole plate and three 12g weights.....that's significant. I dunno why they needed such a gargantuan sole plate to do it and it seems a bit tedious to fiddle with, but not a deal breaker.....also, I like the groove less face with wilson lgoo and graphics.

Overall, I think it's slick, and there is more room to tinker with the sole plate idea.

Plus, 6 position settings on the hosel. No wonder golfers waste so much money on drivers.....that they cannot hit. Then say "it doesn't fit me"!! gudgawd.
