Haven't played with any new players this year. I've only played with my wife and son this year and we've had a single paired with us twice. One was an older fellow that was playing old, but matched equipment. Can't remember his other clubs, but his irons were Ping Eyes. The other was a high school senior and probably a scratch or very low handicap. He had a bag full of newer Callaway clubs. Never paid much attention to what is in other peoples bags for some reason.

All I know is that there are a lot of golfers active right now. I can't make a tee time at a decent hour anymore for any day of the week without being at least 3 days in advance.

I have been playing better courses this year than in the past when I mostly played Memphis city courses. Mainly because the city course are just as booked up, almost as expensive, and further to drive to. They are a better match to my skill level, but not really worth the drive. Basically I can pay $42 - $45 to play a well maintained course within 10 minutes of my house, or $38 to play an lesser maintained course and drive a half-hour or more. Prices are lower for all courses on weekday afternoons, but I’m working from home and can’t really “plan” for golf as well as other people seem to be able to.

johnnydoom they want $175 fuckin'dollars to play our place, with a member, iirc. Used to be $0 for me and 3 guests. Then they hired a new pro (formerly of Augusta CC in SC) and GM and want to charge employee guests $24 for 18 and $16 for 9. Is it worth it? Yes, but I still called bullshit on them and I haven't even played. Pretty sure PGA employee policy is employee and 3 guests = $0. I think they told me I could play Sawgrass for $10 (don't hold me to that). I gotta get this leg fixed bad!! I'd gladly ride around in a cart for any of you Buzzards passing through though.

Edit: I called a guy I work with and he said they charged him and his wife $65 for 18 @ Sawgrass.

LBlack14 I just saw this. Didn't even know they had gone to 'local rates'. I don't play it because the 2 times I've gone there, it was cart paths only. It's much shorter if you just walk, but that's not allowed.

We wore jeans at TPC Deere Run. No one said anything, but it was almost winter(Thanksgiving Day, in fact) and we were the only ones on the course.

Par4QC not private? Those ain't bad! We have a shitload of walkers. I wouldn't walk that place, even if I was young again. Cart path only is even worse.

LBlack14 Always been open to public. This is the first time I ever seen those 'local' rates on their site. I might have gone a few times, had I known that, but only on really dry, sunny days. Rates are with carts; to my knowledge, they've never allowed walkers, unless it was someone like John(Typhoon). This place got some long walks from green to next tee. Real long.

I bought some Greg Norman shorts to play out there, before I trashed my knee, otherwise, all Walmart and thrift store cargos here. I doubt I have a "golf" collared shirt I've spent more than $10 for. Most of the shirts I have are "George" from Walmart, on clearance. Hell, Hammer sent me several @ $3 per, plus shipping. 😁

6-7, 9-10 and 6-7 isn't really that bad.
