I don't really notice any hodgepodge bags at the courses I'm playing this season. But, a few years ago, when my brother was alive, we used to go a lot to courses across the river. 1 day we got behind an mixed outing. Men/women, that is. From their appearances, they must have heard there was free food and booze, and made the drive up from the backwoods areas. While we were waiting, I told Steve to take a look at their clubs/bags. I told him there was nothing left at the Salvation Army thrift store because they all stopped on the way to the course. As we watched them play, he told me those clubs were much too fine for their games!! π migawd, it was a long afternoon.
Another time, my son and I were playing in my hometown tourney when we got paired with a couple locals. They dressed kinda funny in the fact, iirc, 1 was wearing loafers and button up shirt. We were waiting on the 1st tee when I happened to notice their clubs. I told my son it was going to be a long day from the looks of those beat up, 40 yr. old clubs/bags, with dirt clods hanging off them.
Had a hell of a time beating either one of them that day, and we were constantly waiting on the group ahead of us, we played so fast.
(for those from the backwoods areas reading this, forgive my mirth π )
