Unfortunately with some HOAs it’s much worse that abide by a few rules. The guy and his wife who own a custom blind business we know moved out of their subdivision because of a busybody neighbor constantly harassing them.
The last straw was harassing them with the size of the pvc fence enclosed around their AC unit. 🙄Another horror story was in my golf buddies HOA and this guy and his wife moved out of the state because of dealing with a harassing HOA guy who claimed he used to work for the CIA. Lol
Again, our city has code enforcement that drives around and the city can fine you if you don’t keep your property up. We have two neighbors who have boats in their driveways. Several have work vehicles with one guy having his Thomas’s English Muffin trailer. Lol I had a basketball hoop for awhile myself.
Another goif buddy lives on my former course and his HOA kept harassing him because of a decorative weather vane on his roof which could only be seen if you’re on the golf course. 😏. It was on the tee box on a par 3. It was helpful to see which way the wind was blowing. lol
This same HOA requires all the houses be the same color (pale yellow cream). A little to much moonshine and you’re libel to stumble in the wrong house. Lol
So yeah, I’m anti HOA. Lol HOAs in theory seem like a good idea, but in practice some are just the opposite.
