Woods didn't play bad today just not very sharp.

azgreg For 5 months away, I thought it was a wonder he was not +6. Brooks looked like he just started playing a few days ago, otoh. 😁

Is my head in the sand? Two weeks in a row at the same venue? WTF

The John Deere cancelled since they couldn't have fans so they went back to back here to plug the hole. First back to back in 63 years. For this week they let the rough grow a bit and speed up the greens a bit.

azgreg speed up the greens a bit.

I think they were under 10 last week and about 12 or so this week.
Huge difference in scores overall, plus it got windy.

          ode scores better earlier?

Last week I think the cut was -2. Right now it looks like -1 is tied for 20th place, so it appears that the scores were much better on the course last week.

          ode scores better earlier?

I think the leader was at -4 with a bunch of -2's from the early wave.
Finau is the outlier as he continued his great play from the charity 9 holer (back nine) from wed. where he shot -6 I think.

Spuzz Finau was saying.innthr presser he's reached 206 ball speed. I'd love to see it with that compact swing ..... Must be so e serious supination or is pronation with the wrists!

ode Waaay back, before he was on tour, him and his brother could regularly pass 400, when they wanted. Only when he learned control did he make it to the Pros. iirc, he was on Big Break, maybe both of them.(??)

ode I'd love to see it with that compact swing .

His swing looks a bit longer to me now.
Maybe he's thinking less and swinging freer.
He's always had the power but he hardly ever swung more than 80% with driver. Afraid to miss the fairways.
My guess is he has somewhat re-evaluated his game (underachieving in the Win dept) and is trying something else.
He hit one on 17 (closest to the center hole) about 400 yards and less than 2 yards off center on Wed.
If his short wedges and putting are on, he will be tough to beat.
Problem is, he gets nervous on Sunday and his putting goes to shit.

                ode Found this:
Tony Finau (along with his brother Gipper Finau) was on Big Break Disney Golf when he was 19 years old.

His brother was trying to make it to the PGA, but apparently turning Pro in high school has been detrimental to that happening. He was better than Tony, as I read it. Has only had a couple starts through the years on lower tours.
