Par4QC We play courses that have several teeing areas, most with 4. The Pros play courses with 5, that I've noticed, which includes a 'Pro' area. So, they do change things just for them, obviously.
True, however the problem is that "pro area" is no longer relevant . As we see week in and week out, players are carrying corners of dog legs, bunkers etc that once were in play but no longer are.
13th at Augusta has been lengthened a number of times , it os still driver , even 3 wood and a mid iron. ( some guys like DJ habve even hit wedge) Back in the day guys hit their approach with fairway woods, 2 and 1 irons or laid up. The hole is really just a long par 4 now. Same as 15 , which has been lengthened and tightened.
As things keep progressing, Eventually it will be driver , wedge for most on 13. Sure, change it to a par 4 , but what do you do with the sub 450;holes, make them all a par 3?
something probably needs to be done to prevent that, distance gains are going up ~ 10yards a decade, 300 yards is the average on tour. Courses cannot defend that and stay relevant.
it wont piss me off, as the square groove rule didn't because it wont impact me.
played many competitive events last summer using the " new" rules of golf.....other than the lost ball OB rule which is not used in competition, had zero impact on my game of my enjoyment. Not one thing was different.
people hate change and bitch and complain, and do so even when there is zero or minimal impact to them......as I said above groove change, new rules last year had no impact whatsoever on me . Seeing as nobody else has chimed in to my request above, i guess it didn't impact anyone else either.
