Weirfan I have mixed feelings on Chamblee as he does take it too far at times. I don't know if he's just that much of a dillhole or he's just playing the role he feels the audience wants. Maybe it's just that you have a channel dedicated to only golf and there's only so much to talk about. GC producers were probably thanking God Patrick Reed did what he did or there'd be several hours of pretty much dead air. I can only understand a lawsuit if a sponsor of Reed is saying "hey Chamblee harping on the incident is going to cost you". Even then just deny, deny, deny and go do your job is probably the best way to change everyone's mind. I've been a Reed supporter for the most part. I doubt I would get along with him personally, but I like the way he plays and at least he as some personality. It's not always a bad thing if a sport has some "villains". I also felt that way about NBA player Dennis Rodman once though and hopefully Reed is not going down that road.

    He shouldn't have to.

No matter what we think we saw, or what we think, the 'trial' was done by the 'judges'.....PGA officials reviewing the incident. He was found in violation of a rule of golf. ONLY. Convicted of such and handed down the penalty. He was not convicted of cheating, therefore he cannot, and must not be publicly labeled as such. Esp. by persons in media. We, on golf forums and such, may get by with saying whatever we'd like about people of any stature, but those in the public media, cannot. There could be/have been serious repercussions for many that spouted off unproven words publicly. Reed could seriously hurt Chamblee's purse if he takes him to court. Chamblee would have to prove Reed to be a cheater, and no way in hell can he. He has never been charged, nor convicted of such.

      Par4QC He shouldn't have to.

No I agree there's probably no way to prove he was cheating. He broke the rules IMO based on the video, but I couldn't determine intent. I just don't agree with threatening to bring a lawsuit as the response. I think Chamblee trashed Koepka and Woods as often and I didn't hear that they brought lawsuits up. They just went out and won tournaments.

        KCee

I thinking that openly and repeatedly calling Reed a cheater on air is much worse than trashing Woods for swing and coaching changes and Koepka for being the arrogant ass he is.
For a pro golfer the accusation of intentionally cheating carries big implications. Bringing up all the dirt on Reed's past etc was just piling on and character assassination and nothing more. He can have an opinion and express that, we all formulated our opinions on what Reed did, as many other in the media also did........however, he didn't stop and his continued attacks were petty and inappropriate for a person in his position.....especially in view of the PGA Tours ruling on the situation.

Weirfan I thinking that openly and repeatedly calling Reed a cheater on air is much worse than trashing Woods for swing and coaching changes and Koepka for being the arrogant ass he is.

Perhaps. All I can say is that at one point I was a Reed fan and now I'm really not and it has little to do with brushing sand away in a penalty area and more to do with his actions since then.

Also much of what I heard Chamblee saying about Koepka (right after his 1st major) and Woods (after his "prime") is that they were not that good and likely were not going to win. That may not sound as bad as "cheater", but a sponsor is looking to back winners and a GC analyst saying these guys are NOT going to win is possibly impacting their sponsor dollars. You could have your lawyer send a letter even though it's only Chamblee's opinion......or you could go play good golf and win. Just my $.02 that I don't like the road Reed is taking. That said I think Chamblee needs to be knocked down a peg or 2 as well and maybe threatening a lawsuit will get him to dial it back.

The best predictor of future actions are past actions. Farmer & the snake joke.....

I find Brandel insufferable. All this talk about "not afraid to call players out" and "speaking his mind" really isn't my primary dislike about him. It's just that it's the only schtick he has. He's a one-trick pony. He used to be somewhat appreciable back in his early days on the network, back when he would talk about actual golf stuff that was informative.

He carries a chip on his shoulder. He's surrounded by former players/analysts (David Duval, Frank Nobilo) who've enjoyed reasonably successful careers as players, and it's obvious that deep down he resents the fact that he was basically a nobody in his playing career. It's plain as day, and the only way he can compete with their veteran knowledge is by doing what he does - making a name for himself as the network's biggest shitweasel.

Let's see what Brandel has to say about Matt Every tomorrow.

Apparently, Every had too many clubs in the bag, from what my wife was telling me. At least he is the only player showing a WD on the chart & there are is not a DQ showing. Once he discovered it, he simply walked away...….after playing 17 holes!!?? wtf

I think you have to take a penalty stroke for every hole you played with the extra club................adds up quick.

Here's what I found......I did not know this!

"The penalty for carrying too many clubs in your bag is two strokes for each hole where a breach of the rule happened. That means if you have 15 clubs in your bag but don’t realize until you’re playing the second hole, you will receive a four-stroke penalty. Fortunately, the maximum penalty for breaking this rules is four strokes, so it won’t get any worse than that."

Here's the whole article from Golf Magazine....https://www.golf.com/gear/2019/03/18/how-many-clubs-in-a-golf-bag/

Agree 100%. If Brandon would even occasionally preface his remarks with something like, "While I realize that
Player A has enjoyed much more success than I ever did on the tour, here's what I THINK was going through his
mind on that shot" it would go a long way towards making what he says more palatable. I know he's gotten into
it on more than one occasion with both Nobilo and Duval on air b/c he comes off as just being a "know-it-all."

I remember Ian Woosnam getting even more angry at a Bristish Open? for bringing his spare driver from the range to the course
                  LOL

I think he had his caddy drawn and quartered iirc. 😱

Chamblee is the most articulate shitweazel on TV, so he's got that going for him.........which is nice.

I saw the title and thought maybe he had stumbled into a cannibal colony while on vacation.
