Speaking of club building.....just did a reshaft of a Ping g400 hybrid for a buddy, 😮 is all I can say about the hosel config. WTF......takes a special ferrule, only made by ping. The hosel itself is .395, you can use a thicker shim and a standard ferrule or the ping ferrule or a .370 to .400 bushing sleeve ferrule. I did not realize this til I pulled the shaft and saw that the previous shaft was shimmed. Did the research and realized what was going on. Not sure why ping does this, but I went to Dicks to see if they had an extra which of course they did not but scored the .370 to . 400 bushing sleeve from a box of mismatch ferrules they had laying around. Started to file until it fit. I think the hosel inner I'd is also tapered as I had to sand/file less towards the top of the sleeve but anyways I got it to fit.....and the ferulle portion was a decent fit at the top too.
I am doing my own reshaft of some ping i200 irons and they take a special ferrule with a long collar.....wtf is with ping. And the bottom of the hosel comes to a pretty significant taper too. So strange. I guess once you get used to it no biggie, but their hosels are strange!
Future ping jobs I'm hitting up our residents ping ho😉
