I like the kid a lot. I don't mind his OCD penchant as it relates to the science of golf. He comes across as a likable personality and seems approachable - two things that most fans appreciate and respect very much.
As long as he's not holding up play, playing slowly... I don't know that he has that reputation on tour, but it just seems like it could potentially become an issue at some point if it hasn't already. Then again - they're all freaking slow, for the most part. Except Rickie. It's one of the biggest reasons I like Fowler. He doesn't dawdle and fiddle fart around when it's his turn to play. He sets a good example to the kids playing the game today.
I too enjoy players who express a certain individuality about themselves. Huge fan of Tony Finau.... I think he's on the cusp of stepping through the major championship doorway. Huge fan of Matt Kuchar, how even when he's having a bad day he just seems to take things in stride and is eager to smile.
Speaking of Kuchar... apparently Zach Johnson's caddie (Damon Green) was struggling with the heat and humidity yesterday. He was in no shape, given his age, to carry on. Zach needed someone to fill-in immediately, as he didn't want Damon to end up in the hospital. Who filled in? Matt Kuchar's wife. She carried Zach's bag the remaining holes.
We often say that our dream foursome would be so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so. Gotta be honest with ya - he may never win a major championship - but Matt Kuchar seems like he'd be a fun guy to play a round of golf with, someone who you could relate to.
Back to Bryson. Just keep doing what you're doing, young fella. But take a moment every once in a while to smile a little more often. It's not like you're pumping crap out of septic tanks for $14/hour for a living. You don't know how long the storybook ride lasts. Enjoy it. Don't take it for granted.
