Like it or not the media is doing it's job. Reporting news.
Jameis Winston is the QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While in college he was accused of sexual assault. Charges were ultimately never brought, but he did settle financially with the alleged victim. This happened when he was a "kid" in college.
Should the media not have reported on this? Using some of the standards I see here that should be none of anyone's business and since no charges were filed it should never have been a story in the media. Just an immature college "kids" antics.
Now a few years later Winston is accused of assaulting a female Uber driver. He denies it, but the NFL is investigating. Is this not news worthy of being reported also?
Some may excuse bad behavior while in college as a minor thing. Some may not. But either way it is news and should be reported.
Some of you may not be aware of Winston's problems. They may just be a regional story for the most part. But should they win a Super Bowl that thrusts him into the national spotlight these problems in his past will be brought back up as well they should.
Again, the media is doing their job. Reporting news. If these stories bother you keep your head in the sand and don't read them. But I want a media that reports things such as this and I'll decide what I think. Bottom line is I want to be informed.
And I don't want thought police deciding what is news worthy and what is not.
