  • Does Tiger make the cut at the Honda this week?

Tiger is a head case again as documented in a couple of national golf magazines. He was tinkering with the settings on his driver to improve his performance off the tee. Someone needs to take the wrench away from him and set up an appointment with Steve Strecker to discuss the importance of how and why to make the mental transition from trying to keep up with the flat bellies and ease into a pre-senior controlled swing with improved fairway stats.

I don't think he makes the cut.

Along with a bottle of Chardonnay, two glasses, a blanket and a pack of Trojans. 😜

Tough track, especially "The Bear Trap",but I think somehow he'll find his way around/
take a few detours.....and he makes the cut

After finishing near dead last at Riviera , i say he makes cut and ends up 30-40th

Not against Tiger and really don't like to be negative about anyone's game, but I would be fine with waiting till Tiger at least makes a top 10 finish before the media wastes everyone's time to watch mediocre play at the professional level. Watching Tiger at this time is about as interesting as watching grass grow.

I only want to see his tee shots with his driver.
    😮

Even par was the cut last year so he's on it, and the scores so far aren't as good as last year at this time.

Conditions are tough this afternoon. Wind is up and greens firmed up as a result. Not many players in the red. Tiger at even is T21 so he might even improve upon that. Last week he evacuated his bowels on Friday.

Seems like he played better than average today. Unless he throws up tomorrow in better scoring conditions - looks like he'll be play 72 holes this week.

Not really, for him. This is the lowest he's ever shot in the 1st round at the Honda, which he has never won. But, considering where he's been, and what he's gone through, he played damn well.

          Par4QC

          Fairways hit 50%
          GIR's 55%
didn't look but these have to be quite a bit better than last week's numbers.

7 rounds playecd and still hasn't broken 70 but with it being par 70 should do so this week.

There is always so much negativity when Tiger's game comes up in forums. He is clearly the greatest player of all time. Nicklaus never had his game or quality of competition on tour. Sure, he has had his personal problems but why judge him on his game. This is the first time he has been pain free in 5 years. He is good for the game as he brings the fans and excitement to a sport that really needs it. Ticket sales and TV ratings go up at least 40% when he plays. I love to watch him as a golf fan and hope he does well.

Put Tiger's major championships in a box, then put Jack's major championships in a box.

Then tell me who has more.

            It's that easy.

              ode In good position!

Yep, tied with 11 others at even. Projected cut +3. He should make the cut unless he really waltzes on his willy.

That reminds me of one of my Granny's favorite sayings. "You can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one get full the fastest."

It sure is an easy way to compare athletes. Totally ignores context. If that is a satisfying result for you, rock on.

Satisfying enough when there's a rather significant discrepancy in major wins. If there was only a 1 win-difference or a tie - I'd be more open to the debate.

But not when there are 5 major wins needed to eclipse the record.

                That's fairly significant.

And, for all intents and purposes, unrealistic.

Celebrate him for being a great, great player from '97-2009, perhaps the greatest during that 12-year era. Just don't call him the greatest of all time, because based on major championships - he ain't. No excuses needed. You either have 18 or 19 majors and are part of the conversation or your don't.

                Not
                that
                complicated.

Jack has a better major record....I don't particularly care about all the seconds, although it is interesting side conversation, which could go either way. Jack had more front runners to deal with, but after that, not much by way of depth of talent. Part of the reason Tiger did not have as many front runners is because he made it that way. Tiger is more Jordan like in his competitive nature, like a stone cold assassin. He wanted to destroy the competition. Tiger completely revolutionized the game to where it is today, good bad or in-between, the guys kicking ass right now watched TW growing up. In that regard Tiger has had much more of an actual impact on the game!

Would have loved to see Tiger v Jack mono y mono.
