    If he wasn't on the clock by the officials he was within his rights. You can spend 5 minutes looking for a ball but you can't take 5 for a major decision on the last hole? Geese, dudes chill out.

        No, players should not be allowed to take 5 minutes to make a shot. He should have been penalized. That display is the kind of behavior that some of the public mimics on our courses. Slow play might kill this game one day. Can't count the number of times I've watched a 25 handicapper take over a minute to walk around, and squat down to line up a 1 foot putt and then miss. How would you feel if you were Noren - having to wait that long while trying to win the event?

                  It was one shot on the final hole, not the entire round. Earlier in the round there were multiple groups backed up on the 14th tee. I guess they needed to be fined too.

                      Just a few weeks ago I think it was Sergio dicking around for probably 15 minutes trying to decide where to take a drop on one of the final holes with the stands around the hole and some rocks nearby.

                        4 - 5 mins for one shot, that is insanely long, just do the math for an even par round....4.8 hours for 4 mins per shot to 6 hours for 5 mins per shot. Now I know it's not that much for every shot, but it's worth noting.....a shot clock is needed and imo it would have helped JB in this situation, the longer he waited the smaller his sack became. Thank gawd he's a good golfer, could you imagine playing with him shooting 90.....😱

                              Rickochet 😉, I would not care if it were for a reportedly fast or even regular speed player, but it's JB, who's got a rep for being slow....and to add insult to injury, his punk ass laid up. Who lays up with a chance, #JBdoes

                                  A majority of these guys dick around and take too much time. J.B. especially. Jason Day is another 5-hour round guy.

                                  I know these guys are competing for a lot of money, but it doesn't exactly make me interested to tune-in on a Sunday afternoon, not even when there's snow on the ground and nothing to do outside (unless it's a major). And even then I've got the DVR cooking, intentionally delay watching for a few hours so I can FFW through the ass-scratching, mindless chatter in the booth and overall silly bullcrap.

                                  As to his decision to go for it or lay-up.... can't speak to that, because I didn't watch. So for me to be critical of anything other than his habitually slow-ass play would be improper, only to say that if it did take him 5 minutes to determine the triangulation of the moon, the incoming tides, and the planet's center-of-gravity put upon that specific parcel of land that he was on as he was about to play his next shot - it doesn't come as a shock.

                                  He's one of the slowest players on tour. Notoriously slow.

                                        I just read where the wait was timed at 4 minutes and 10 seconds. That is no time considering the situation. I think this is getting blown up far too much by the media. I am seeing lots of threads on the web that say, "JB takes 4:10 to lay up." How many would have posted, "JB takes 4:10 and goes for it"?

                                          LBlack14 I'll answer the rhetorical question, yes😉 and it can go both ways, on the line after that week may be the simple truth of a tour pro in JB's position......which may well be that will be the only time he had a chance to win all year, we shall see!

                                            No one made eagle on the 18th. JB wasn't in a great spot, and the wind was making it more difficult. Chances of eagle were very slim and he probably decided to take the increased paycheck and remove bogey from play.

                                            I don't buy the "making a decision in the situation" story. 4+ minutes is way too long when there is no ruling present and you're away. He wasn't making a decision, he was trying to wait out the wind.

                                            I take it all back, the final group took 6 hours to play, he's on pace by my previous calculations, lol, keep it up JB!
