What Are Your Favorite Wedges - Component Or OEM?
It's very early (played twice this year), but I'm in love with the Callaway Mack Daddy wedges I picked up over the winter. Short game has been (pretty much) on point thus far, which is unusual for me when I haven't played much.
I've been playing the Maltby Tricept 52* and Maltby M+ Series 56* for a couple of years now.....no plans to
change.
Cleveland CBX.
Never really played OEM wedges. I do have a couple Cleveland wedges I picked up here and there, but never used them on the course. My go too for years have been Maltby wedges. They have a good selection of lofts for my preference. Currently playing a 54° Maltby wedge as I need the stronger loft for approach shots and can open it up for higher shots.
I do wish I could find a 55° PureFit IDraw wedge head. I play the 51° IDraw and sucker can put some hurt on a golf ball. I don't think they are conforming anymore, but I really don't give a crap!
My best wedge ever was an old Cleveland Diadic 53 gap. Made a lot of eagles with it - thus the moniker.
Wore the beaut out. Replacement wasn't the same.
Took out my brand new maltby tsw drm 52 degree for a spin today. First swing off a tight tie a short chip, fatted it.
Next swing about 80 yrs out over a bunker, ball rolls to cup and hits pin and spins out.
All shots after that were fantastic. Easy to hit and forging feels great.
Eguller I think I have one of those in the garage someplace. A Diadic for sure, and pretty sure 53°.
