  • What Are Your Favorite Wedges - Component Or OEM?

Its been so long since ive used a component wedge i forget those that were especially good. RL were decent and got play, tried all the Wishons....somso
the Eidelon 60 i kept for quite a while before i gave it away, have some SMT durometers not in use.
In my Arozona bag i have Edels and Pings , here love my Ping eye 2 SW, best wedge ever, so versatile. Macdaddy wedges also great. Built some Maltby tours for my bud who is a low single and he loves them. I might try some myself this year.

I still use my SMT Durometers. I like them, always have. I dropped out of the 'new club rat race' 5 years ago at least. Other than replacing a broken driver (twice πŸ™ƒ) I haven't changed much in my bag since FGI's heyday.

    • SMT likes this.

Played Eidolon and Reid Lockharts for years. Still have an unused set of Eidolons waiting. Also have sets of Cleveland RTX's (too big for my eye), Wishon PCF's (just OK), Snake Eyes Box Grooves (too big for my eye), Callaway Jaws (too much bounce). Finished the season playing a new set of Vokey SM4's that I re-shafted with UST Proforce Axivcore wedge shafts to match my Adams A7 Pro irons. After some getting used to they performed really well.

    Sneakylong That tiny blue writing

    Ya.
Blue sucks, especially that shade. I am sure that blue is popular in Florida though.
    πŸ˜‰
Plus the marketing spin, the short lengths, high bounce numbers and lack of other specs (shaft, heel toe length, toe height) as well.
    Otherwise, have at it
    LOL

      sdandrea1

      Blech.
Mizuno is bad for using blue, especially in their woods.
MP33 (black paint) irons were the cat's pajamas though

Sure you didn't have them mixed up with the CBX irons? After all the tiny blue writing on the CBX wedges is real prominent. 😏 Wouldn't be the first time you went off half cocked before having all the facts. πŸ˜‰

I might get a set of those blue wedges just to piss Spuzz off. My G10 irons are blue dot - does that count as gayazz blue? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜€

          See above post
          LOL

Not enough blue to be gay...azz, just gay.

I have a set of Maltby M Series and a set of Vokeys that alternate in and out of my bag. Depends on
my latest success or lack of same with each group. Sometimes I'll just switch out the one that needs
            a "timeout."

Now my favorites are OMG Tille wedges, but before them I used Alpha Prospecs Black finish for a long time. They flat out worked for me.

I keep finding myself looking more at the Wishon Micro grooves. Checking their website shipping for 3 heads is cheaper than one head. πŸ€“ I haven't ordered anything from them since the change. They have a coupon code window. Has anyone ever seen a sale coupon? Also, does the Wishon stuff ship from a US warehouse of from the UK?

              Rickochet
Pretty sure UK shipping only now.
Post a WTB in the Flea Market.
There's some around in dealer's hands here is my guess.

Ok, tried that Vokey 60/04 yesterday. It was windy as hell at first, then calmed down later. Lies around the greens are tighter than a blind man’s bunghole at a weenie roast. I really, really suck chipping and pitching on these lies. The only good shots I hit were when I slightly opened the face. Everything else dug in. Ball forward, ball back, didn’t matter. I brought along my Cleveland 54/10, same thing. I guess I just need to practice til I figure something out.

I'm also a big fan of the Ping Eye 2 wedges, especially the sand wedge.

Couldn't hurt to try. I don't mind played used. 😜

rsvman I'm also a big fan of the Ping Eye 2 wedges, especially the sand wedge.

I have the SW and LW in a set of black dot Eye 2's. Looking for something to compliment my set of Wishon 870ti and Sterlings when less offset works better.

FGI and Golf Digest's top 100 fitter Bill Weitzel added my 4i head to an order. Said I put him over a threshold and saved him shipping $$. He was glad to do it. Lucky he's local.

I forgot I had this beauty in the closet. 60Β° "Alien-ish" and huge. I have hit this thing 150 yards (skulled out of a hardpan trap).

                    3 years later

Rickochet Just dug through my parts bin. I found two DTG Felon Rip Groove wedges that I recall hitting pretty well.

Digging up old threads looking for info on the Felon wedges. Do you remember anything about them? I saw them on ebay and they look nice, head shape looked nice, low bounce...and they were cheap. I was going to buy a couple heads and shafts maybe.

I just pulled a goodie out of the demo bin at the club. Callaway Sure-Out 56 degree in graphite. The damn thing is bullet proof. Sand or tight fairway lie, I'm in love! If they made a 52, I'd be all in.

                        sdandrea1

Those things are like the C3i wedge you see on TV. The 64 is like cheating out of a trap.

colej Yeah, he's just wasting time talking about the Felon. I've got the DG-15 CNC Spin, the one that came out just before this one; looks the same to me. It's the one he is looking for. The Felon is just going to give him something to be pissed off about, when he loses yardage due to the excess spin, the shredded ball covers, and when the ball comes back at him off the green.
I actually had forgot I had these wedges til late fall, when the greens were like concrete. Put the 56 in the bag, and was sticking them close. Drop/stop! And that was me, and my swing/knowledge of wedge use. πŸ˜‰

Spuzz told me to give these a shot a year or two ago and they've been working so good I haven't even thought about replacing them. I have the 54 and 58 degree in my bag. The black finish didn't take long to start wearing, but the performance has been consistently good. I had DTG put them together with their graphite shaft (the rest of my set is graphite so I went that way with the wedges too).

I think I'd go with ColeJ's link if I do it. Only reason I was picking the Felon's was they are $19.99 each...thought it might be a fun cheap thing to do. At $39.99, I'll wait until we get jobs. Good to have the link to refer to.

azgreg Love Maltby stuff. I have the one below in both 52* and 56*.
I even have the big-ass Lob Slider in my bag....the only lob wedge I've had much success with!
In fact I'm going to be in Golfworks' neighborhood in Newark, Oh Monday and will probably drop in to see what
                          new designs they have!

Typhoon Do you remember anything about them?

After 3 years, uh no. I don't remember squat. I probably didn't like them because they spun too much or shredded the balls.

Nothing I've tried beat these.....so far. I've just recently put the Zipcore's into play. Time will tell.
