Played what will probably be my last round today. Next weekend's weather is calling for freezing temps, highs of 40's. Getting ready for a long winter of gutting/remodeling bathrooms/rooms; 10-12 hr. days and 6-7 days a week til about Apr..(I'm sure we'll be done sooner with some assriding, but 'projections')

Only got in about 22 rounds this year, but that's a couple more than last year. And there was improvement, although I have no clue as to why. Last couple rounds were the season lows, 75. Today was a damn good one what with the 20 mph winds, and a lot of holes hitting into it. No distance lost, and that makes no sense. Never had a GIR, but almost hit someone beside a green(the one I was aiming for) with a drive!! Also, never had a putt longer than 10', several of those!! Only 1 birdie. I'll take it. Good way to end.

What's your season low?
When(if ever) do you hang them up?

(wanted to make Bigborgel a little happier, so hopefully he'll be chiming in)😉

I hear ya. I’ve had an enjoyable 8 days in Florida but I’m ready to put the clubs away for awhile. Probably won’t play another round before April. And not sure what my decision will be with regards to me maintaining my membership at my private club going into next season. I will have played 56 times this year, with approximately 45 of those rounds at my club. At $6k/yr - there’s definitely a decision needing to be made.

Shot 74 back the second week of Sept... scoring average of 80.3 this year.

This has been the worst season I’ve had in 15+ years, but I also have to keep things in perspective. Golf wasn’t a priority for me this season.

And not sure it will be next season either.

Nooooooo....I'm not done playing yet and I'm not ready for winter and cold with snow. I want me some of that global warming at least through November...

Played yesterday. Temps were in the mid-70s. Plenty of golf left this season, I hope.
Low round this year was 81. No idea how many rounds I played.

Looks like our season is done. Our bunch of old geezers (me included) don't play unless it is mid 60's and sunny. Only played 25 times this year. Usually play 50 +. I am actually satisfied with my play this year and had a low of 74. Best equipment finds of the year was the TM M2 driver with UST ATTAS shaft and a set of ValueGolfs Pinhawk SL fairway woods with Fubuki AX 65 shafts. I played Volvik Vivid balls most of the summer but just ho'd 4 doz. Kirkland balls just because. Looks like all of my golf gear comes out of the truck today and into hiding until next April.

Play year round, though with age considering I might need to go a bit south for some warmth, seems the old joints and the cold weather aren't getting along as well as they use too. Hell to
get old...

Low round for the year was even par, on several occasions but can't leave it at that since I also had two round in the low 90s (ugly was ugly). Average was an 80 (actually 79.9).

This winter I am going to adjust my playing schedule to be later in the day, these 8 am tee times are not ideal for playing of late.

So far have 221 rounds through the end of Sept. Probably another 56 rounds by years end. Believe it or not, this is down, my average has been north of 320 a year for the past few years. Again, getting old is hell.

Holy crap. My joints hurt just thinking about that. 😱
    Do you walk or ride?

Par- thanx for taking my thread seriously, post a good point and you'll get several quality responses, that's what this place is all about.

Martee That's taking advantage of a membership, for sure. Don't know that I would play every day, even if possible, although I'm always saying I would love to be able to do that. I'm one that just could not play 'that' course over and over though. I don't mind waking up to the same person beside me every day, but golf courses are different. To me anyway.

We pretty much play all year long except for those 2 or 3 snow days, about 80° today and rest of week.

We've had a warm October which is nice. Plan on playing until the course closes in December but we'll see. When the rounds become too infrequent I just hang it up and go to the gym more. Just got back from Long Beach, nice to play in 95 degree temps again.

Played a decent amount this year. Got fit for my driver and drove the ball better than ever. Kept the " no rounds over par" streak alive too.

I have no idea how many rounds I have played this year. I know it is down from previous years. My game is also worse as these last three years I have become a happy hacker. Broke 80 a few times but my ball striking has become worse each year. My short game is improving simply because I miss more greens that in previous years. I lost another playing partner this year due to physical problems. He told me last month he is probably through for good. Down to just me and my wife now, but we have a couple of guys who will join us occasionally. Our season never ends we play all year and only miss some playing days due to inclement weather. So I can't complain too much. Well I can, but I shouldn't do it very often.

Ride for most, about 50% of the time it is cart path only, that is when your ability to place the ball is important, I seem to still not understand close to path good, far from path a good hike. That is between 3 course for the most part.

Playing the same course can get old. Fortunate my home couse is one which can offer a different challenge each time, unless you hit the ball to the same place each time. Also our tee markers often are moved, like from the normal position to a back or forward tee podition. This can change the hole, such as now having the tee Box back 30 yards and on the opposite side of the fairway, now it is cut shot instead of a draw for best postion off the tee. Aldo only about 2 holes run parallelism to each other and flat lies are rarely found off the teeing areas.

I could see playing some courses could get old, but playing with one one group 3 days a week and another 2 days a week offer variety as well.

        I might have a problem, maybe a slight a diction to golf.....🤓

I average 130 to 140 rounds a year, basically 2 to 3 times a week, year round. Low round of the year was 73, high was 90. Occasionally, travel/vacation pause the golfing, but since SWMBO plays too........FORE!

Play year round here in Florida. Try to play 3 days a week, but with the weather and so forth I probably average less than that in a year. I believe my lows were 75's. Did it a couple times recently. High was probably ~ 90. Try to forget those rounds though. 😎 The problem with living in a warm weather climate and being a member of a club is it's tough to make yourself take some time off.

Have at least one round left. Always play in our annual Halloween outing regardless of what the weather is (unless there is accumulated snow). Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates again this year and we have favorable temperatures.

I have at least 2 rounds left at my club because I have two rounds on my pre-paid cart card and I won't waste them.

Retired Doctor friend that doesn't golf asked me to host his med school classmates from Japan this weekend and they are golf nuts. I've agreed to take them to our beautiful county owned course that wraps around a scenic lake so I'm looking at a minimum 3 more rounds this year.

My handicap dropped a couple of strokes over the year to a 12 and I will have played about a 1/4 less rounds. I had a high of 92 in The Villages, Florida (pud course too) on my first round post hernia repair surgery in February. The highlights were a couple of rounds with seniors in 2 tournaments (5750 and 5950 yard tees) where I posted a 76 and 78. It was a 'great nines - ho hum nines' by being 1 under on one side in each event.

Sneakylong he problem with living in a warm weather climate and being a member of a club is it's tough to make yourself take some time off.

Yup. A blessing and a curse.

Here in NW Ohio we often can play through October and on into November. That looks to be the case this year. I went to the range yesterday in shorts and a golf shirt....it was about 75. But, we have a tee time tomorrow, and it's not supposed to get above 54 with light showers/wind. We'll probably call it off and wait until Thursday when It'll be low 60's and sunny. I'm slightly over 40 rounds for the year (I'm part of a small travel group who play several different courses within 45 min. to an hour away), playing twice a week.

I like doing the travel thing and playing DIFFERENT courses too well to settle down to playing the same course every time out. There is one course close to home though that would be tempting for me to join.....it's an older course (in fact I worked there summers for 20 years) that has been taken over by new ownership and given a tremendous face lift as far as conditioning, clubhouse, friendly staff, etc. I think of it as "home." Maybe when I get really old (72 now) and tired of driving.....

As far as my game this year, I've reconciled myself to playing "old guy golf." I've devoted a lot more time to short game and putting practice; I move up to the senior tees on longer par 4's and par 3's; anything I can do to keep the scores at a reasonable level. I shot a pair of 75's this year, but most of the time I'm right around 80......
