Here in NW Ohio we often can play through October and on into November. That looks to be the case this year. I went to the range yesterday in shorts and a golf shirt....it was about 75. But, we have a tee time tomorrow, and it's not supposed to get above 54 with light showers/wind. We'll probably call it off and wait until Thursday when It'll be low 60's and sunny. I'm slightly over 40 rounds for the year (I'm part of a small travel group who play several different courses within 45 min. to an hour away), playing twice a week.
I like doing the travel thing and playing DIFFERENT courses too well to settle down to playing the same course every time out. There is one course close to home though that would be tempting for me to join.....it's an older course (in fact I worked there summers for 20 years) that has been taken over by new ownership and given a tremendous face lift as far as conditioning, clubhouse, friendly staff, etc. I think of it as "home." Maybe when I get really old (72 now) and tired of driving.....
As far as my game this year, I've reconciled myself to playing "old guy golf." I've devoted a lot more time to short game and putting practice; I move up to the senior tees on longer par 4's and par 3's; anything I can do to keep the scores at a reasonable level. I shot a pair of 75's this year, but most of the time I'm right around 80......
