I doubt many here are on Medicaid. My understanding is that Medicaid is government health insurance for low income qualified recipients. Other members might chime in with more accurate info.

Medicare is government supplemental health insurance for all citizens 65 and over.

Yes. If you are old AND poor, you may qualify for both. From what I gather, many here are old enough for Medicare, but I doubt anyone qualifies for medicaid. So, we have ours, fuck those other people.🙄

candukid Probably, everything in every state will be taxed, taxed more, a lot more. And they will invent things to be purchased within the states so they can heavily tax those😲.
Medicaid will become 100% a state issue(it is now only a 33% issue). Haven't read up on this bill lately, but the way I understand it that is why the cuts were put in, because states are so reliant on the Feds for the money.
I'm sure my ol' ass will be straightened out if that's incorrect, but like I said, I read it way back when.

candukid I was reading an article last week about your healthcare, and how people think it is 'free'. It explained all the taxes taken from you, that goes into that system, during your working life.
migawd, you pay more in a lifetime than we ever pay, all total-at end of day. I'm including our ins. premiums in that.

candukid Yes, but I like to think we have more choices. Universal healthcare or single payer will restrict choice. For example, I'm on Medicare with TRICARE, so I'm limited to providers that take both. So far no issues but both are shrinking. Better than have providers leave the career. Hard to determine what is better. UK folks complain about lack of appts and care but could be people just complaining. I'm sure there are negatives in Canada's system but may be better.

I think I'm in good position. Not all are in good positions, but I think they had the same chances I did. Nothing was given.

Granted all this, I have not read all 1000+ pages of the bill but have read many pages in the areas I'm impacted.

The cuts being made to Medicaid are to those who were receiving it that shouldn't have been/fraud. For food stamps all able bodied with be required to find work, community services, etc.

What's different from other administrations. It just extendended the current tax cuts otherwise they would have increased, cut out some waste, secured the southern border, trying to find convicted killers, rapists, human and drug traffickers. Find the known terrorists including members of Isis that were knowingly let in.. They have found 5 year olds that were collecting unemployment. There is much more but I won't bore you anymore with examples. Check it out for yourself. If you're worried about the deficit, what's new. Not one local, state, or any government that wants to take any cuts, they always want more. They have to pay out all the lifetime pensions and other benefits they promised whether they had the means to honor it or not.

sdandrea1 Every Admin and Congress does, people do not like giving up what is considered minimum. We are hypocritical voters. Term limits are needed to meet what the framers first thought would happen.

Until we run out of other people's money. I work with 7 International nations military members each day, when they state their tax burden individually (as high as 52%), I try not to complain.

People will get hurt losing their healthcare. Rural hospitals will close. Doctors will leave. States cannot afford to pick up the slack from the federal government.

People think Medicaid is only for poor people. Wrong….. Anyone who has had to put a loved one in a nursing home knows about Medicaid.

The insidiousness of this bill has the cuts happening after the 2026 mid terms.

Yes, and insidious because those it will affect will reject the warnings come November will ignorantly say, “my Medicaid wasn’t cut”. And that will fly in the face of the campaign rhetoric. Then come January 2026 - reality bites.
I’m still unconvinced as to the exaggerated amount of fraudulent claims. Truth being hard to discern these days.

candukid Does not impact us here, just the freeloaders and non-citizens. Medicaid has easily exceeded the original intent to help those below the poverty levels.
