After hitting the qi35 LS and Core model, I’d look at turning in the broken head for a core model and then look for a cheap LS on marketplace. They were really that close. The core was pretty automatic so that’d make a good gamer but man the LS just really had a nice sound and more powerful feel, but I didn’t hit it quite as well. But when you hit it… wow…. And it’s the wow that makes me want that head as well.

Typhoon It's why I choose LS heads over the regulars or maxs. Plus they just plain look better at address.
And I've not found a need to kill myself trying to hit any. Just much better heads imo.
I do turn them up a notch though, for ballflight.😉

Par4QC The 10.5 LS was perfect. The 10.5 core was higher, not too high though and swapping the weights on the core did nothing for me. I wasn’t on Trackman so I was eyeballing. Spin jwas fine on the core, you could tell it was lower on the LS. I’d maybe go up to 11.25 on the LS and down to 9.75 on the core. Either head would work, the more solid muted LS I can’t get out of my head BUT, the consistent high and straight core ballflight minus the great feel was just sooo good to look at shot after shot. Makes for a tough choice if I have to make one.

sdandrea1 Are all the modern offerings loft jacked thin faced irons that work well only for fast swings? Who's making geezer irons? My driver speed yeilds 175 to 195 total distance.

I did an experiment a Minimalist set of irons using used Cobra LTDx 6i 23.5 deg. PW 41.5 deg. and an Aerojet head 8i 31 deg. So, 6i, 8i, PW and added a Cobra SnakeBite Versatile grind 52 deg 8 bounce. KBS Max Lite steel my preference is steel for better MoI heft match. They are off the rack spec upright and massively jacked. Using a 2 piece distance ball I don't notice any spin issues. Those 4 irons with a driver 919THI 11* 43.50" and a Yar putter for 6 clubs is about all I have been using the last 2 months and works well for a 2700 yard 9 that I walk/carry and play. The LTDx and Aerojet heads have the same Powershell design, same specs, feel like butter to me and as easy a game improvement irons as there are on the market. You can find them from time to time as used heads on eBay. I have $100 in all 4 irons and built to my specs. I don't find much better out there and I have worked on all the new modern mass marketed major brand iron heads and they all seem decent nothing better over one from another.

Sounds like a nice minimalist bag! I'm sure I have swing issues causing my club issues. My club speed loss is probably more due to technique than aging. I do still prefer weaker lofts in the shorter irons.

sdandrea1 I am 190 yards with the 919THI 43.50" 11 deg. driver so much the same distance as you at 76 that's the reality of golf. 45.50" drivers don't yield much more if any change and I am hitting the center of the driver face and a nice average draw in the fairway. At our age are you going to make massive swing changes is very doubtful.

Crusty veterans like us use course management and finesse shots to keep the game simple and fun.

sdandrea1 How about the PXG Wildcats? They are modern lofted but not uber strong. You can buy them by the stick too.

Or maybe the Mizuno JPX925 HL's?

Thinking of PING with retro loft spec. 47 degree PW on the i240. The 8, 9, W would be almost identical to ZING2.

Might be picking up a member/friend’s Qi35 LS 10.5 driver with a Kaili white. Good deal, would like to have the LS head because of the ball speed. I still have the core mode qi10 to swap out but this might end up as my LD head since I’ll be able to go down to 7 degrees.

I've been thinking about building myself a new set of irons for a winter project.
Been looking at several component heads that have caught my eye......BUT......

Maltby KE4 Max....The sole looks way too rounded to me...
Maltby TS3.....Too pricey (IMO) for a component head, and today several here are "Meh" about them anyway....
Acer SR1.....The specs look like a LOT of offset, which I don't care for...
Alpha (several of the cavity back models)....Nice looking to my eye, but old fashioned lofts...

Running out of options.....I may have to stay with my Maltby PTM's for another season....

Still pondering a Temu DF3 or using my discount for a real Spider ZT. Also pondering a Qi35 LS on Marketplace. Don’t need it, I picked up an OG SIM to go along with my SIM2 Max and I have a qi10 damaged to swap for a qi4D.

Typhoon I have a golf buddy that got the ZT earlier this year and it has made a huge difference in his putting. He's had dozens of putters and it was the worst part of his game by far. For some reason he went from 3 jacking 6-10 times per round (yes he was that horrible if not worse) to 2-3. Probably the biggest change I've seen a club make for a player.
