I haven't bought a new driver in years and really have the itch for a new one. Getting the urge for a new driver is like getting poison ivy on your sack. You just have to scratch it. My current gamers are a DTG 175 and a Wishon 919thi. I hit the Wishon consistently but it has too much spin and I get little roll out which really kills the distance when the ground is soft. I hit the DTG about 30 yards farther but not super consistently.

So, I guess I am looking for a holy grail (again) that will give me more distance with consistency. I have seen good reviews on the TM M2 and there are a billion of them on the bay. I am not seeing much component wise that interests me. I once had a Dyncraft Avatar Evolution that I would dearly like to have back. That was probably the hottest head I have ever used. BTW, I need a 12° or higher.

Talk to me Goose, talk to me. 😎

Time for a trip to the local golf shop so you can fondle the new equipment and hit some stuff on a simulator. Take you current gamers with you and you can do A-B comparisons. A 12 degree driver isn't going to be super common at the golf shops, but some of the drivers out there can be adjusted to it. I have a Nike Covert 2.0 (got it from Tim on FGI) that is set to 11.5 degrees as I wanted more height than I could get from my 10.5 gamer.

Also, Geek does have 12 degree heads...

The fun in looking for a new driver is in the looking. The thrill of getting it and putting it in play. That first few times when you think you are getting the Holy Grail and then the let down when it turns out to be a short honeymoon. If you can't get to a Golf store near you do a search on the internet for the various heads you are interested in. You Tube is a good place to see actual people hitting it and commenting on the driver. But if you go to forums and look for revues you may get a better idea from real players, usually like most of us, and how they like or dislike the driver. Callaway, Cobra, TM are certainly good solid drivers on the market and each company has 2 or 3 that can work for your strengths and or weaknesses. Good luck and enjoy the process.

Yeah, best to get on the simulator first.
It's not easy to find more distance , especially from roll out if you target higher loft and flexible shaft. But I could be wrong and there might be a white elephant hidden in the jungle somewhere.

More distance is likely available. Optimizing launch angle and spin for your swing speed might buy you a few extra yards. If you could get 7-10 it would be yuuuuge.

      good luck and have fun.

I live in small city. No sims within a 100 miles. I have been building my own clubs for 15 years and have a pretty good idea of what I need. My only option has been trial and error. I have some older heads that might work if I can find a better shaft for them.

Been there, done that. I was a member of FGI for 14 years and browsed the clubmaking forum daily. It is really fun when you find the perfect poon stick. Somehow, over time the poon leaks out and the search begins again. I immediately picked up 30 yards a few years ago with the long and light concept with the DTG 175 and hit it well for several years. I still have three of these and might do some experimenting with new shafts in them.

My gamer is a first generation black 919thi purchased in the FGI swapshop several years ago. Confirmed on Trackman. Out of 10 drivers this beast has the longest carry and total distance.

pellmell I'm gaming the same stick. I haven't confirmed it on trackman and haven't done any simulator testing, but the darn thing just works.

Usually can't go wrong with Cobra. The Fly z or z+ can be had chap but to me they have a hollow feel to them...never solid.

I'd look for something with a sliding vs. Flipping back to front weight if that type of thing interests you.

I had the Ping G30 lst and it was ok but I was never a fan of the sound plus it always felt like I was hitting a rock with it. Distance was fine and so was forgiveness. I just sold it because the forgiveness wasn't a big issue and I found more distance with something just off the rack.

I was talking to Frank at Ace of clubs and he suggested the M2...2016...not the new one...last year's model. He said it's longer. And we know its forgiving. I ended up getting fitted for an M2 which I'll get next week.

In the meantime I traded my Ping even up for last year's M1 with the stock Fuji pro 60 just so I had 2 heads to take the same shaft adapters. I kill the M1...love the feel. I can mess with the weights a bit but it's hot. I know it's not as forgiving as the M2 but it's not my concern. The M2 should be every bit as long.

If forgiveness is not an issue, than either head is great plus u save money being last year's model.

Maybe you just need a new, low spin shaft to ensure you get roll-out on those dry days and don't get the ball to back up on wet days?

Try an Epic, this club could put TM out of business. Super forgiving and long.

Nice looking club, but at $499 my itch isn't that bad. Very few used ones on ebay.

I agree on Cobras. They can usually be had pretty cheaply. I'm still playing a Cobra S2 from 2010. If I was going to look at some newer OEM's Cobra would be first in line.

scotts33 Here ya go Rick Dynacraft Avatar Evolution 12* driver used pull and sell shaft and you have the head you are looking for.

Thanks Scott. That one has been in their inventory for quite some time. I think the head sold for $59 new. I don't think a used Booyah is worth much. I had already sent them an email about it this morning.

Never tried a Cobra driver but found a bunch of F6 and F6+ much cheaper than the TM's.
