Shooting at the Super Bowl Parade in Kansas City. Multiple people injured. Initial reports say at least 10 people shot. Three critical and 5 serious. At least one dead. Parade ruined because of idiots with guns. Another new low for the country.

Sneakylong Another new low for the country.
Why would you suspect anything different otherwise? It's also the anniversary of the Parkland High School massacre!
More than likely another 'kook' whom lots of people knew; one with known mental health issues and guns. And, nobody said or did anything. Then again, in the recent son beheading his father in Bucks County, PA, no gun was used.
One of the suspects arrested was white male, with shaved head. WTF?!

Yeah, I need to add to my comment. Another new low for the country ‘where there seems to be no bottom.’

Two uniquely American obsessions converged today in Kansas City. Football and guns. There were ~ 800 law enforcement people at the parade and still people weren’t safe from gun violence.
The 48th mass shooting this year. Better than 1 a day.

Yeah, we’re number 1 by a mile in that regard. Just saw where Missouri ranks 48th out of 50 when it comes to lax gun laws.
Basically all you need to get a gun in Missouri is be breathing. No need for permits. Saw also where the Governor was running away with his security detail while kids were getting shot. No security detail for them.
Always wondered why anyone would want to be a policeman these days, given how criminals avoid jail time, the talk and actual defunding of police depts and the boatload of guns out there.
To me, gun violence has been and will be a problem here in the U.S until such time there are wholesale changes. Not holding my breath.

Rickochet I saw something on the news this morning that St. Louis had 328 vacancies for police officers. That does not include the 100 vacancies that were canceled by the defunding police administration
Not sure what this has to do what happened today in Kansas City. Included in the 800 law enforcement on the ground at the parade were federal, state and local law enforcement.
The issue in Kansas City wasn’t enough law enforcement on the ground. The issue is easy access to guns. They seem to have no restrictions in Missouri.
Again, the issue in these mass shootings isn’t enough law enforcement. It’s gun culture / lax gun laws and easy access to guns. Arguments that obfuscate the real issue aren’t helpful.
No need to hold our breath, we’ll be on to the next mass shooting (49th) in two shakes of a lambs tale. Meanwhile we’ll offer our thoughts and prayers. Which sadly doesn’t seem to do much. Sadness doesn’t cut it. Anger is needed here.

Sneakylong unfortunately, you are correct. On to the 49th
Sneakylong There were ~ 800 law enforcement people at the parade and still people weren’t safe from gun violence.
Law enforcement isn't really designed as crime prevention. 800 to protect 1 million? Nah, not happening. Lots of children were shot today. I think current count is one dead and 21 hospitalized, some in critical condition.
Rickochet That does not include the 100 vacancies that were canceled by the defunding police administration.
What the hell are you talking about - "defunding police administration"? I'd like to see you support that statement. Any of those progressive liberals suggesting that police departments should be de-funded are fucking idiots!

professor Law enforcement isn't really designed as crime prevention
In these situations that’s point (visibility). Law enforcement is visible and is intended to dissuade criminal behavior. We don’t know the details yet.
But my guess is law enforcement was there rather quickly, hence the quick apprehension. And I’ll bet the shooters had some sort of gun that could fire rapidly.
Also reports are this was some sort of argument that turned to gunfire. If that’s the case they sucked at aiming. They missed shooting each other, but hit two dozen innocent people.
Again, all speculation. But it’ll be interesting to hear what actually took place here.
propman the talk and actual defunding of police depts
And you too! Go ahead support that statement. Because it's not happening. Why do you folks feel the need to blow smoke without doing your homework. Just make shit up...
Sneakylong Arguments that obfuscate the real issue aren’t helpful.
Oh, do you mean dumbass comments - those that are just political talking-point bullshit like, "how criminals avoid jail time". LMAO You mean the guy that used to be in the White House?
