Agree. Three that stayed in my bag a long time were SMT Spectrum, Geek DCT, and a Snake Eyes (forgot the model).

ode @ode @Nat @colej how does the KE4 Max driver compare to the KE4 Tour driver?

Taki27 hard to give anything in depth as I only had a cup of coffee with the Tour and sold it .... And demo'd the Max as @Nat had one and sent it to me. Max has a slightly bigger footprint, was more forgiving, and had better feel/slightly more muted but also more solid all over (on mishits performed and felt better). IMO a noticeable improvement overall. Also the fins on the crown were more subdued with the Max and looks better, but the shinier metal on the front of the crown was a bit more.distracting then that of the Tour, although this was minor and after playing it a few times a non factor!

I thought the max was way better in every way. Feel, flight, forgiveness were all better than the TC tour (although the ratings are close for both). It’ll be interesting when the Pro head comes out and how it compares to the Max.

I think the max is a notably better head than the tc tour. It looks better, sounds/feels better, and is a bit more forgiving. I tried it v my Sim and found it as long, not as good fell tbh.
Bottom line it’s a great head

I don't really think there are many bad driver heads built in the modern era (titanium weld-on cup faces). At least in my experience, if the shaft is the right fit, all these heads go far.

It eventually got that way but there was a fun time in the early to mid 2000s when the head sizes were growing to 300-350-400cc and first got capped at 460cc. Each successive model seemed to be a little longer and/or more forgiving. You're right about shafts. I probably dismissed some heads as duds before I figured out what shaft profiles and weights worked best and how BBGM impacted shaft flex, etc. It was fun experimenting, though!

I remember building a Golfsmith TI 260 driver with a graffaloy pro launch burgundy shaft. That was a game changer for me. The stock shafts in all the big name drivers were whippy crap. I was probably coming from a great big Bertha or something like that. I seemed to remember a bunch of other builds that were good too. Integra heads were pretty good for me and of course SMT I enjoyed a few of those. I really liked the UST shafts and Aldila NV 65 shafts. Fun times

The Golfsmith 260 was my first component driver, too. I had the opposite experience. My buddy recommended the True Temper EI70, which he liked but he was a longer hitter than me. That shaft was too stout and low launching for me.

For me the best component heads were the ct250 and the golfsmith snake eyes 610?. Loved that head.

Looks like I should receive my TS1-IMs before Christmas. I forgot about em. My pro just sent me an update. Ordered on 11/1. They somehow forgot to process my order. He said it sounded like a high school girl working out of her garage. He confirmed my specs and they said irons will ship in 3-5 days. Needless to say he’s not impressed with Golfworks. Anybody have issues with them? I’ve only heard glowing reviews of them. If my clubs come in as expected I’ll be ordering more plus wedges. Can’t wait to see them in person.

Most local pros probably "aren't impressed" by Golfworks because they've never heard of them, b/c GW is basically a direct-to-consumer company (so he's making nothing off your sale), and b/c they've been brainwashed by the big
OEMs like Titleist, Callaway, and Ping. Let your pro's attitude go in one ear and out the other.....

They’re not perfect by any means but they get it right 98% of the time. Have your pro check them when they come in and While he’s at it have him check a couple sets from other brands. I’d be willing to bet the Maltbys are closer to spec then most big brands.

It figures they would mess up an order from the guy that already had preconceived ideas about them being substandard vs. OEM.
