Provided I hit 3 fantastic shots, I MIGHT make it to the green with driver, 3 wood, & 8 iron... one little screw up and I'm not making par...be lucky to make double...
Now, am I going to try to hit those 3 fantastic shots? Oh fuck yeah!!!
For me it would require a perfect drive, perfect 17.5 degree fairway wood (I'm tired of calling it a 5 wood even though Ping does), and a perfect 17.5 degree fairway wood. But in all likelihood, my perfect drive wouldn't reach the fairway and so the reality is that it is a minimum of four shots for me to get to the green.

We are moving up several tee boxes.....sorry to say some are puting the peg in, up in the fairway
azgreg For me it's probably in the range of driver, 7w, and 7i if I hit them all well.
It would be more than that for me - a good drive might get out to 250 with a bit of roll (assuming that there's fairway to hit from the back tee with a 210-yard carry...), then 210 on a solid 3-wood, and that still leaves something like 165 to the middle of the green (so 5/6-iron or hybrid, depending on the hole position).
I think the the best I would hope for would be Driver, 3h, PW.....more than likely a 8 or 9i. Home course has a par 5 that is 575.....and it is long.....could not imagine adding 50 yards
I'd need 4 good shots to get on that green. There, I said it.
sdandrea1 Those friggin sand traps were magnets of the tee. We either played the second or third tee box. The wood-covered area is a large meeting/starter area right next to the large parking lot, with lots of noise and people watching the first tee. Slightly elevated tee looking down into the sand. They never seem to cut the fairways close either, not much roll for the dweebs like me paying $150 green fees.
What a round from Homa.

For that hole I'd be happy with a 7... to me that would be like shooting Par...

It's a par 7.
Hovland is on a tear and Scheffler is at his best. Fun to watch!
Scheffler is really spinning his short irons. Too much.
Is this good? Seems good.
