backinit he's not wrong....there needs to be more risk reward IMO...i.e. if very few can reach there is no risk to take. I'm all for 3 shotters but 1 maybe 2 per 18. Short knockers aside, if very few can reach them it's a bit mundane. Hopefully they .ix it up some over the weekend!

ode I think more would reach if they could keep it in the fairway. I'm all good with a US Open with score close to par. That tournament is USGA, not the LPGA. Still seeing some great golf.

backinit Still seeing some great golf.

We must be watching different tournaments because I'm not seeing this. I'm watching typical weekend golf from Any Course USA.

The gals got no clue as to how to play this type course. Some appear to be playing 'scared', as I suppose they should be.

Maybe I'm expecting too much from them and they play courses that are much too easy most of the time. Just not exciting to watch, imo.
The weather is not making it easy at all. So there is that.

Par4QC Yes they are struggling. I doubt the winner will make -10, the 2 groups I watched were not eating it up, but I did see Lydia Ko take a very rough hole and still battle to make the weekend...Lexi played terrible....korda made it, but really had a tough time finding the fairway until midway through the 1st round. No one is going to score well hitting it 225 yards into that rough. Should it be lightened up for them?

backinit Should it be lightened up for them?

Just a wrong venue for their abilities. Not shorting them, just looking at reality. They simply do not have the strength to play from that type of rough or length. jmo

The men had 54 players at Par or under, with -18 winning. Perspective.

Hopefully this course was just a 'whim' for them, 1 season only. Hope like hell never to see Bethpage Black in their rotation.

Par4QC Right, avg LPGA course plays 6400, the same as this US Women's OPEN. Some of the rollouts show they are not playing smart, but I'm sure there is some stress.

Par4QC It's funny you mentioned Beth Page. That's one that ran through my mind as one they probably would never play. I agree 100 percent.

Lopez starting to light them up.

Bravopilot Purse is a ton of money for them; 2M to winner, iirc.
I think we'll see some different play from a lot of them this weekend, with those figures in mind. Can't be playing scared when the money is that high, gotta go for it after making the cut. Come Hell or the Pacific! 😁
Could see a 'worst to 1st' develop.

Sneakylong Leader Bailey Tardy hit the longest drive yesterday (323) on the 9th hole.

To put things in perspective, Lydya Ko hit it 282 yards on the same hole and she's ranked 107th in driving distance on LPGA.

Par4QC The weather is not making it easy at all. So there is that.

That's what's making it tough. The temperature is only expected to reach 63 degrees and wind is 27mph.

Not sure who the lady is doing the coverage on Peacock but good gawd.ia she bad.....can hardly form sentences,.thoughts, it truly is broken up words that at times don't make sense.....if one was listening to the coverage. Paige M. is actually slightly better then whoever this is. There is only so much Dan Hicks and Grant Boone can do.

pellmell me or her 😂. Not a drop for me yesterday....some people are not cut out for the booth, this lady, Paige M. and Morgan P. are poor analysts/commentators!

I have tickets for the final round. Driving down today to play Aptos Seascape and staying overnight.

Bravopilot I was at Ford Ord for three years... played both Bayonet and Black Horse lots of times. Bayonet was brutally difficult.

Kind of a normal day (until at least mid June here in SW MN). That's about what the temp was here
for the last few days and it's July. Normally it's in the 80's and sometimes 90's by this time.

I got to play Pacific Grove while visiting the Naval Post Graduate School back in '96. Great course!

Par4QC And they don’t putt with the skill we see on the men’s tour. They would be great putters at any country club but they compare to the Korn Ferry guys, who are frustrating to watch for the same reason.
