In my opinion, anyone who saw the press conference and doesn't have a closed mind saw a president calling out the media for what they have demonstrated thus far and that is to undermine his presidency at every opportunity and he's not going to stand for it.
On his side is a pretty substantial number of Americans who agree. Only a hardcore partisan would say that the press has been fair to Trump. And there have been more than a few stories circulated by the media that appeared to be damaging to Trump that turned out to be false.
The press doesn't like not being in control of the narrative or being called out for breaching their obligation to report fairly and factually. Trump has found a way to bypass being filtered and interpreted by the media by using twitter. As a result they are at war with each other.
A free press IS supposed to be the institution that keeps everything in check. However, it is undeniable beyond the most partisan of us that the media has simply become a transcription service. In the pursuit of ratings their desire to be first with a story they simply run without checking sources or determining if a story is even true.
So a free press yes. Propaganda machine, NO!
Finally I'll just say if I learned anything from the other community is was that no one is going to change their mind. We are a divided nation and based on the performance of the media I think there are people who want it that way.
