All of my electric caution stems from way back.....
Dad was painting a room in the house. Dad tells me to take the plug covers off. I'm maybe 8, so I don't even know what a plug cover is. But he pointed at those electrical plugs. Earlier that day, I had asked a question about something else, and had gotten chewed out about asking stupid questions. (Loved my Dad, but he could get in a mood). So, I was not about to ask any more questions.
Took the faceplate off. Saw that the brackets holding the plugs would also block my Dad from painting every little spot of wall. Some of the plugs wouldn't come out of the wall very far, so that would make it hard to paint, so I thought I'd better take those plugs off too. Doing that made my wrist muscles twitch a lot. Thought that was strange, but I got it done.
You should have seen my Dad's eyes when he came back in and saw several exposed wires.
