CallMeAl Does the opposite switch work the lights properly?
Originally, switch 1 got stuck in place. Switch 2 still worked normally, turned lights off and on.
Replaced switch 1 - but now neither switch works. No lights.
Put old switch 1 back in, still nothing works on either switch.
Rex's ideas of checking the wire nuts would make sense if moving the switch caused one of the wires to disconnect. It would surprise me, as there was enough wire that none of the wire nuts in the box even moved. But still, I will check those connections today.
Ah, here's another question. The old switches used the SpeedWire connection (wire goes straight into the hole in the switch (versus the hook/screw approach). I did pull switch 2 out to check wires, and the ground wire broke out of the speedwire hole. So I stripped that wire, made a hook, and screwed it onto the ground terminal. That little broken piece of wire in the speedwire connection (cut flush) won't short the circuit right?
