Well, it should be simple....
In my wife's closet, she has a two-switch, two -light setup. One of the switches got stuck in place. 2nd switch still operated the light. OK, no problem, I went to Lowe's and bought a new 3-way switch. I'm sure I've installed 20+ light switches over the years - simple right?
Installed the new switch. Turned on the breaker. Nothing. The light does not work from the 2nd switch now either. Other lights connected to the breaker still work - so breaker is fine. After trying all 3 wires in every possible position on the switch, still nothing.
Grabbed the old switch, and noticed that the rocker switch was now unstuck. So, I reinstalled it in place of the new switch. Nothing.
Here's an additional stumper. Trying to confirm which of the 3 wires was the HOT wire. Pulled out my two multimeters. Checked a live outlet to confirm that the multimeters read 120V, check. Touching the leads to the screws connected to the wires on the switch - never could get a reading on a multimeter. However, I also have the pen voltage detector. That would light up RED and beep around all those wires. I don't know why the Pen would say voltage when the multimeters would not.
Any ideas Buzzerds?
