Walterjn Yeah but here’s the thing. With me anyway, and last night on the Golf Channel they actually talked about and had player interviews about mallet putters. The guys using mallets now said it would be hard going back to a blade.
The latter part of last year I tried my Ping Tyne 4 mallet and I was easily a couple strokes better. I was amazed. I always putted ok with my 5 Anser style putters but even though my stroke felt solid, I felt like I didn’t make as many as I should. Once I went to the Tyne 4…. No complaints. I had the original Scotty Futura and putted great with it. Didn’t realize at the time that I putted so well with it because it was a mallet. Nobody really uses mallets then and went back to a blade…. But I always putted better with that Futura
Typhoon blade putters all look the same, few little one can do with the appearance.
Mallet putter have so much to work with, that you can do anything with the design, weight, and appearance. My thoughts about putters are,
1) how well do I putt with it
2) how do I like the appearance of it as I line it up
3) is it heavy enough?
I prefer a heavier putter, I can use the momentum to hit through the ball, instead of trying to force a light putter to transfer the same force.

I'm not questioning the merits of a mallet over a blade putter. I don't buy into (pun intented) the idea that we need $1500 irons, $600 drivers and $400+ putters to magically improve our score.
sdandrea1 I'll not be the one to argue with that.
Esthetics are definitely a personal thing, as is weight.
That said, one should be able to mount a chunk of metal to the end of a shaft. If done right, aligned properly on the end of a shaft, one should be able to putt fairly well.
Given the right 'shaft' one could mount a rock on the end of a shaft and be able putt fairly well.
With one exception (an old Ping JB5) I've been using mallets for at least 20 years. I'm reading some of the Lab putter comments wondering if a putter that I paid $400 for would drastically effect my short game and I can't visualize that it would....probably because my weakness is not hitting enough GIRs, not putting.
Had one in my hands at Dicks. Didn't hit any putts with it, but it just felt like it swings itself.
I wish Ron Popeil would come out with a putter.
Putting would be so easy then because.......'we'd know the secret!'
Thinking of getting one. It helps to know if I don't really like it I can always sell it on the Golf Buzz forum for $12 shipped and I can save on ebay fees and on shipping with Pirate Ship.
Center shafted putter…… you can keep that noise. No freakin thanks. Even if it was free.
