VigilanteTrail Headed to demo the Black Ops right now
Demo/fitting went pretty good...at least I was able to provide several fairly consistent swings which has always been a crap shoot for me when I do fittings.
The Black Ops is a nice feeling head and has a good sound which is a personal thing mostly...as far as looks at address I can't say it is any better than my current ZX5 but it is just fine.
I tried Tensei AV Raw Blue stiff, Tensei AV Raw Orange (in stiff I think?), Riptide CB 50 stiff and the newer 2023 Diamana S+ 60 in regular (graphics are way better imo 😆). I ended up pretty dialed in with the Riptide CB 50 stiff but when he switched to the Diamana S+ 60 regular it was a little more stable & consistent for me...he explained that the Diamana S+ 60 regular profile is actually firmer than the Riptide CB stiff and a little softer than the Tensei Blue stiff...he called it a "tweener" LOL. I will say that the feel of the Riptide 50 stiff was pretty good and it was more stable than I expected...but overall performance was not as consistent for me as the Diamana.
Best combo for me ended up Black Ops 10.5 in the small plus setting (+1 loft and -0.5 lie) with the 2023 Diamana S+ 60 regular flex and a 10g weight in the heel instead of the 12.5g. Funny tidbit...my swing speed increased by like 2 mph by changing just that heel weight from 12.5 to 10g...funny that 2.5g made a difference like that but the Trackman wasn't lying I don't think...I went from like 94-95 to 97-98...weird.
Overall, I'm glad that this fitting confirmed that the Diamana S+ 60 regular is what fits my swing the best...with respect to consistent swing, ball flight and dispersion...and knowing on my "perfect" & "optimal" swings (according to Trackman) that I can get it out there in the 260-270 range is just absolutely fine with me...will take that any day when they happen every now & then. I really need to learn how to hit the center of the face as often as @Par4QC does...🤣
Not gonna buy the Black Ops right now...I will pass at this time...thinking I will save $250 and probably order the Gen 5 10.5* with the same exact shaft instead. This decision might cost me a few yards based on the ball speed each head is capable of producing but probably fairly negligible with my caliber of swing anyhow.
Swing #32 in the pic below was a nice thin pull to the left...LOL
