Jelopster’s PXG review:
You may recall that I picked up a 3w and SW in the great 0211 blowout of October 22.
0211 (Gen 1) 3W - 15 degree set to 13.5. Tensei Blue (S) tipped 1/2 inch. This is replacing my Acer Thriver Mini which has been a great club for me. The PXG is every bit as long and more forgiving. I had concerns over both as the Thriver has that big ass head. Off the tee, the PXG gets all of the 265 I was getting from the Thriver. Nice ball flight with a controlled trajectory (I struggle with hitting it too high off the tee). I caught one way low in the face and it came out like a piss missile stinger. Distance loss was minimal. The open face (due to lowering loft setting) kept me straight. Off the deck, this was super easy to launch - easier than the Thriver. I think the lower profile and the railed sole help. The rails give really good turf interaction on tight lies.
As much as I loved the 3W, the 0211 DC SW (54 degree, 2 upright, Stiff TT Elevate Tour) was the star. I love my Ping Glide 3 Eye Sole 58* out of bunkers and on touch shots and I bump and run an 8I when I can, so my SW is really my 110-50 yard club with full to 1/2 swing. I needed more of a GI iron than a bladed wedge. The 0211DC was amazing. I’ve struggled on those 50-110 shots but yesterday they were a strength. These are forgiving, high launching, and gave plenty of spin to hit and sit. If this is any indication of how much better I’ll play with a traditional GI iron vs my current TS2s, I’ll be very happy when my Ping Gs are ready!
Oh and the 0811 XF (Gen 2) Driver? That thing is still up there with the Ping G400 Max as the best ever high MOI drivers. I hit the damn thing all over the face and low heel and high toe alike stayed long and in play. Several over 300 bombs. If I could do anything as well as I hit driver I’d be half my 22HC.
