Anybody here hit it yet? I've got to laugh, a lot of hype and almost every review I've read on other forums has the club being the holy grail. Now what makes me laugh is most of the people raving about them were part of a select group chosen by the forum to go to Callaway and test it or were selected to have a club sent to them to review.

Total ass kissing.

I like to watch Rick Sheils on YouTube do reviews. They are legit. So I watch his Epic sz review. He's smoking it...raving about it being the best driver ever. I then went and looked up his M2 review from last year. He hit it as far, if not a couple yards further than the Epic....and I think his regular driver the M1 went even better.

Chuckled over thatm

I've been very smitten with the GBB lines of 2014, 15, and the Epic. From what I've gathered in my research, guys with slower swing speeds gain the most from the Epic line. Faster swingers and guys who consistently hit center of the face don't see much benefit when compared to the Ms or even the Double Black Diamonds.

Mark Crossfield does an on course comparison between the M1 and the Epic Sub Zero. He also has a dry comparison showing all the numbers. If you go to his channel he has more vlogs comparing the Sub Zero against other drivers like Nike and Mizuno and against the Epic standard version. Also, Rick Shiels did have the new Mizuno in his bag, but he recently played with the Masters Champ Danny Willett at Abu Dhabi and had the Sub Zero in his bag.

    Sneakylong
Sheila is going to put the latest and greatest in his bag. I know he didn't like the new M1 or M2...didn't like colors or performance. He preferred his other M1 as his playing driver.

From the reviews, the Epic sz matched his M1...so, latest and greatest...carries the Epic.

No idea if anyone pays him to carry...I think not, which is why I like his reviews

In the video, was that Sheils blue bag with the individual slots/tubes for each club? I hate that...back in my caddying days if u saw someone with tubes u would run and hide...sign of a beater.

Nice review by Crossfield, on the course gotta love that....it would nice if he could have swapped shafts from m1 to subzero and hit a few more.....suspect results would be the same, but ?? He has hit the epic vs, sub zero on course and same results re fade bias with the sz. Fact that he's hitting a fade and getting more carry and total distance vs. Hitting a draw with the tmag, is telling imo...in the other test he was left side of fwy with the epic and right side of fwy. With the sz....he's pretty consistent ball striking so I wander if its f.a. and/or shaft fit that is difference in the ball flight.

These guys do get paid besides from You Tube. If you follow Shiels he is now sponsored by Nike (clothing). I doubt these guys get any money from club makers. That would ruin any type of impartiality when reviewing clubs.

If you follow Crossfield he is not a 'shaftoid' as he calls them. He has a video when he was at Ping headquarters and he can hit different type shafts and get very similar numbers. He has another video showing him hitting a 6 iron in different flexes including ladies flex and getting (again) very similar numbers. He has one of those swings where shaft makes little difference.

Sneakylong have watched his "shaft doesn't make a difference" vids....His mistake is thinking it applies to everyone and the ping guys corrected him on that, not that he'd relent on his opn. πŸ˜€ I think for the avg Joe, early/ish release he's right, but still get the weight right, which he advocates for....But for the late release guys, it absolutely will make a difference and that was what the ping guys tried to tell him using Lee Westwood as an example.

His reviews are $....Still curious to why he's fading the sz.

Side note, I hit the sz and f6 at DSG today and I smacked them both...The sz was 10.5 Fuji Pro 62 stiff and was hitting it very well. F6 #'s were better, a bit higher launch and more spin. I was around 9 and sub 1900 spin with sz and 10 and 2300 spin with f6. I'm a low ball hitter so I never get too worried about launch and spin as it relates to what the numbers should be. The f6 had the new red tie in it.

Did you hit the newer Cobra F7? Just picked up an F7 recently. Played a couple rounds with it. Not sure it can beat my G30 Sf Tec. The F7 set at 12 degrees launches significantly lower than the Ping G30 set at 12.6 degrees. Haven't been able to turn over (draw) the F7 as easily even with the 12 gram weight in the heel setting. I'll have to try the 11.5 upright setting. My Bio Cell and Amp Cell appear to have a more closed face angle at their highest loft setting (12 and 11.5) than the F7.

Early thoughts are the more forgiving higher MOI in the Ping G30 may win in the end. Cobra though is supposed to be very close to Ping regarding MOI.

Mark Crossfield is one of the most knowledgeable Golf Pro's on You Tube IMO. Would love to have a lesson with him.

GBB Epic reviews started off with a select group but reviews are expanding and are mostly positive.

I'll hold off judgement until demo days. I like Crossfields reviews but I'm not sure how much benefit there can be for sub-100 mph driver swings (mid to upper 90's).

Until then, I've got a GBB Fusion, TM m2 16 and my XR15 to toy around with. None of them were fitted so there is hope as I'm always looking for extra distance and forgiveness.

Many rounds under my belt with XR15. When well struck, XR15 is as long or longer than any driver I have played. XR15 replaced a g30. XR15 was forgiving enough and simply gave me more distance (but not g30 forgiving) over g30.

Fusion and m2 16 each have one round but both during fall/winter months so no results yet.

Sneakylong I did not....Was yapping a bit with the golf attendant as I had a return (had a pair of the ignite spikeless and saw the Titan tour ignites had dropped in price so I.got.a.gc and had him order for me on line as they did not stock pumas in store).....Lady in front of me who was a beginner just ordered a full set, m1 driver and woods, Scotty putter, vokey wedges, I forget what irons, but order totals was 1200+......He said he tried talking her out of it, but she insisted on having the latest and greatest and he was happy to oblige......I just laughed. Anyway I figured I was there so why not....Had saw the video you posted and asked if he had the epic and sz and he said yep and set me up. Lots of m1,s and 2,s.....I really liked the set up of the sz the best, looked like it was open at address on the neutral setting, sound and feel were good too, not too crazy about the little crown raised graphics, but no biggie. The f6 just flat out bombed, hit about 6 with each . First.time ever hitting a.cobra driver in a sim and me likey. SZ appeared to be a bit deeper face and f6 slightly more elongated face,

Every new driver is the holy grail. It's the dance they dance. My 07 Burner performs as well as the M2 in my hands. Meh.........

I hit the Epic a few times on the range. It feels very solid and is very straight. The distance is indeed good but not crazy long. Golf Spy did a test and the participants averaged 11 yards longer. One of my friends is on the Callaway staff and plays big time tournaments. He loves the Epic and mostly because it is straight. He hits it a mile anyway. I am going to try it on a trackman vs my M1 and maybe will pull the trigger.

Never hit the F6. Love my G30 Sf Tec and the only reason I picked up the F7 was I had credits and Christmas gift cards to spend at Edwin Watts. There's a couple videos out there where the F6 outperforms an M2 and a Ping G. I'll look them up and post if I can find them. Ali Taylor is another good Pro from Britain who's videos I like also.

Sneakylong thx.....On the lookout for head only or one with a heavier shaft.
