I've always done a hands and arms swing (Jones / de la Torre). Everyone has to find their own keys within that concept. For me lately it's trail hand palm down with a late throw feel. Totally right arm dominant swing.
Manuel de la Torre felt that if you just let the club swing it was impossible to make a bad swing. What we humans do is interrupt the swinging of the club and screw it up. We either try to assist or resist the swinging of the club.
When all we should be doing is directing the momentum of the club. Unfortunately it's not as easy as it sounds as we know. We all know it's not as easy as just focusing on the target and just let the swing happen.
I've always played the ball in the middle for every club except wedges which are further back. I use an open stance with my driver and sometimes with my woods and hybrids. That's my static setup for the hands and arms concept.
I think we all have to find what works and what doesn't within any swing concept. And we shouldn't get locked into that we have to perform the whole concept exactly as stated.
Nothing wrong with picking and choosing what works and what doesn't. Most likely we're not doing exactly what we feel anyway. We all know the swing can change from day to day.
I remember Fuzzy Zoeller saying his swing bottom changed from day to day. So the golf swing is always in a state of flux. Trying to adjust to that constant change is the hard part of golf.
No matter what level you are, it's the same for everyone. Part of golfs DNA is its inconsistency. Even when you find a key / epiphany that works, you know down deep that you are never that far away from the lost and found department. lol
Just enjoy the highs knowing the lows may be lurking right around the corner.
