Subsonic What are some more affordable options?

For hobbyists, I don't think you can beat Hireko/Value.

For me Swing Science, I use both FC-One 431 SS options for my clients and it makes decent heads affordable as an actual fit end buyer. I pass the savings on to my clients. In the $15/head range. Both Jeff Sheets designs and good for what they are designed for.

The fc one swing science heads have a weight port in them (like the old golfsmith and wishon heads do)?

KCee Don't sleep on the M890 irons. Very forgiving, easy to launch with sensible lofts. They feel pretty good too. I put together a set to leave at my place in Nova Scotia and found they play really well for me. Have them on Xcaliber RT75 a flex shafts. The hybrids are nice too.

bad9 I recently built an M890 hybrid and it's a nice club. I also have a KE4 Tour 4 wood in the bag. I might have gotten Golfworks irons, but I had a ton of pro shop credit last year so I went with some TM irons.

        bad9 Don't sleep on the M890 irons.

Built 2 sets now for VA buddies. They are nice SGI clubs. The M890 hybrid is a sleeper too.

Played 18 holes in a family scramble today. Hit the KE4 Max 9, W, or G at least once on every hole.
        Caveats:

        1. My swing is in a good place right now
        2. This is my first KE4 build of any model.
        3. This is my first build with these Integra shafts (Professional 50g)

This is AN EXCELLENT GI club head!! Feel is almost forged -like. Not clicky......solid.
Flight is surprisingly high for the strong lofts. My shots landed and almost stopped. At address they are very "Callaway" looking (think Rogue, XR,). I held the 9i right next to my buddy's Rogue and the Callaway has a touch more offset. Distance - wise they're a full club longer than my GigaGolf but that's loft I guess. What I liked MOST was the sole design. This sole is TURF FRIENDLY!!!! I'm ordering the 7i & 8i. PapaD tested, PapaD approved. They're worth $30/head to me.

Oh, and as stated above, the screws were all loose. You'll hear a rattle. I plan to remove them, put a touch of silicone sealant on them and screw them back in tight.

Jelopster How do they compare to the Ping G425s you had earlier in the year?

Similar performance but completely different sound and feel. G425 are clicky sounding and a tad more harsh at impact. These Maltby are solid.

Told you. You nailed the review.
Yep, a tiny drop of blue loctite will keep the screws in place. They will be a GW fav. 😎

Eguller They will be a GW fav.

It's a winner design. They're headed to Florida this weekend. Southern grass test!

Jelopster And now I remember that I've got that KBS Tour 105 I pulled from my Sub 70 699 3U in favor of the stellar Xcalibur RT 95...So that would be an easy one to slot in.

Some help from those who know...The KBS Tour 105 was tipped for a 3U, so I would guess that if I cut another inch off the tip, it would be tipped correctly for a 5 iron, and presumably also the right playing length, give or take the BBTG variance between the heads, correct?

              a month later

Final review of the Maltby KE4 Max irons.
I had them bent to 2 degrees upright from factory specs (not from factory "actual"). Lofts we're also bent to factory specs. Guy that bent them said the lofts were almost all withing 1/2 degree of spec.

Played 18 with them today and was hitting it pretty well. I had better contact and on-center strikes with the heads dialed in so it was awakening how LONG these are. These are DISTANCE irons! The downside of that for my game is they're effective for 4, 5, 6, even 7 iron shots......long and high. For scoring shots, 8 iron to GW, they're not so great. Distance control and green holding became an issue for me today. I airmailed a few greens with the 8 and 9 iron and had a few wedge shots that landed nicely and kept going. Could be the shaft and/or my swing, but for playing my best, the TE Forged or GigaGolf CB Forged will go back in the bag. If there's interest in buying these heads, let me know.

sdandrea1 If wedges aren't holding and you're air mailing greens with short irons it's obviously a lack of spin. What ball are you using?

pellmell air mailing greens with short irons it's obviously a lack of spin.

It's more of a "my PW is actually almost an 8 iron" problem. The balls I use hold just fine with my TE Forged irons. Callaway Super Soft.

What do you guys think of the idea of weakening the KE4 Max lofts a little to go 26-30-35-40-45-50 from 6-GW? would involve bending 8,9,P,G a little weak.

bad9 I do that kind of thing all the time. Go for it.
