I just ordered 6 of the Bassara blue irons shafts yesterday. Great deal! I have a set of Adams New Idea hybrids/irons that had these shafts in the hybrids and steel in the 6-gap wedge. I'm planning on subbing the Bassara's for the lite steel shafts. I have no real issues on the performance of the lite steel shafts that came in the irons but I seem to develop tendonitis in my elbows and noticed it coming on last year when I played a bit more golf. I haven't had that result with graphite shafts so I'm back on the graphite band wagon. Now my only problem is finding Adams Tour midsize grips which I also got from DTG last year (but they no longer have). I guess I'll either have to switch to another brand midsize grip or add a few wraps of build-up tape under standard size Adams Tour grips (which DTG still has).

Is painters tape good for build up?
- Edited
I use painter's tape because it is slightly thicker than the masking tape and it had a rough surface for gripping the rubber, plus it is much easier to remove later on if I need to. No issue when installing the grips with air A dip cup with mineral spirit will make it easy to slip on the open end of the grip to get it going.
Depending on how thick a build up, sometimes I use duct tape. When I need to build up the putter's grip , it might take more than 10 wraps of masking tapes, where 2-3 layers of duct tape will do the same. Always put a layer of painter's tape on first for the same reason of ease of removal later on.
I've used duct tape for build up.....With success....Sure some would frown upon it, but works well.
Also re the Mitsubishi shafts, ordered a 8q3, 7x3, code7, and radix 8,. Am good to go for my fly z, f6 expiraments!
Cheers!

mulegolf ......let us know how those Bassara blue iron shafts play out for you. Thanks.
I expect that they will be fine. The hybrids came with them already and I like the way they play so far.
It will likely be sometime in April before I get to use them... I live in Minnesota and don't plan to go south.

Add two wraps of the painter's tape ( slightly thicker ) if you use air to install the grips. It'll be fine.
Dip the opening end of the grip in mineral spirit before you slip it on the shaft, piece of cake.
I may try installing with air but I don't have the normal grip air installer tool and being a cheap "bastage"
I'm not likely to pay $40 for one either. I messed around with just using a hose connector male end inserting it into the hole in the end of the grip last year to remove a grip (mixed results). I've never tried to install a grip with air but I may do so after ordering a couple of extra grips to practice on. I may try removing the existing grips from the steel shafts I'm replacing as I just installed them this past spring. If I still had the pressurized grip remover that shoots grip install fluid between the grip and tape I'd do it that way as I've done that many times. I guess I've got a quite a bit of time to decide as It's only February and no golf here until likely mid April or so.
