One thing the PGA Tour and it's tournament hosts do, is provide millions of dollars to local charities. I know the WM Phoenix Open has raised hundreds of millions for charity. Not sure what LIV will do on this front.

I applaud Jay Monahan for following thru with the suspensions. 👏 Time will tell how this all plays out. I know who I'm rooting for though and it ain't any of the 'rent-a-stooges'. Thanks Eamon Lynch for that term which fits perfectly.

darpar It is interesting. If the PGA Tour is truly a non-profit focused on charity (each Tour event is technically a charity event) then should it care about another sporting event at all? It should be focused on charitable giving.....which some studies say the Tour is woefully inadequate in that dept. Are other golf tournaments reducing the amount the Tour can donate? I'm not always too keen on non-profit organizations that pay execs a boatload of money, but whatever. The Tour has made the rules and their potential contractors must abide by them unless lawsuits say otherwise.

No they should not.

There is a niche there, in the over 40 age category, that they could explore, if they wanted to, or lower the Champions age requirement and keep some of the loyal members around?
The way the game is going now, there will be a lot of PGA members that will be in that 10 year golf hell
(Mike Weir for example) that are too old or too short off the tee for the Regular Tour and too young for the Champions Tour. Champions Tour could use some rejuvenation for sure.
If you look at the ones who have signed up already, you'll see guys that are smart enough to realize they are already in that hell, or about to enter into it. If golf is all they know, why would they want to waste ten years of their life?

The main reason the PGA Tour cares about LIV is because it’s a direct threat to the PGA Tour. I wish it were for moral reasons, but unfortunately the moral questions are secondary. The tough stance is a business decision.

The possibility of losing it’s marquee players to a rival Tour with an endless amount of money is something to not take lightly. And by their actions today they are taking it seriously.

garyt1957 With any Union, solidarity is key. There are always those that dislike something the company has done/is doing. Strikes sometimes result, some legal, some 'wildcat'.

Now that the PGA has come down on the ones that have parted ways, what will the rest of the 'Union' fellas do?
Who's to say what the PGA will do next, and have an affect on all of them; they are now telling them where they can and cannot work .
Right now, it appears the ones that left have little/ no support from their fellow 'workers', but is that all going to change after this morning's memo? Could get interesting, if a 'strike' ensues.
