Belichick wanted to keep Jimmy G. over Tom before but Kraft said no. So they moved Jimmy G. Fast forward and another reason was Tom wasn’t having as much fun. Brady could never understand why Belichick never asked him to play golf. Lol. True.

So Brady left. His first choice was San Francisco (Brady’s childhood home team). But they stayed with Jimmy G. He looked around and saw Tampa had the best receiving core. Better than anything he had with the Pats.

Belichick was defensive minded and never gave Brady the receiving corps he deserved. Spent all of Toms hometown discount money on defensive players.

Anyway, there was always a debate was it Belichick or Brady. Brady answered that question winning a Super Bowl in his first season with the Bucs during a pandemic.

Case closed. Tom could’ve made a lot more money going elsewhere, but he stayed in New England to win championships. Legacy……

Had he been married to a cheer leader he would have went somewhere else because he would have needed the money. He is the only QB in the NFL whose wife is the bread winner in the family.

      You act as if King Arthur was riding into Gillette Stadium on a white horse to play. If it was about Brady vs Bellichik he could have left NE years ago and went to a better team. Could it be perhaps, that Tom was concerned most about providing stability for his family? Maybe that is his true Legacy?

          Nope, nope and nope. Legacy is your accomplishments. Two time (1911- 1912) U.S. Open winner John McDermott was institutionalized with mental illness for most of his life after his accomplishments.

          The story goes many years later his sister took him to a U.S. Open. He wandered away from his sister and was in the Pro Shop and the person working went over and was going to escort him out.

          Arnold saw what was happening and recognized McDermott and went over and said this gentleman is a back to back U.S. Open champion and he is my guest today.

          Palmer recognized McDermott because of his accomplishments / legacy and not because he did or did not have money.

                        Yeah, Barkley’s contract with TNT is up in 2024. He makes $10 million now and would want more to go to LIV. If TNT or another broadcaster partners with LIV then that's a game changer.

                        Because it’s unlikely LIV can be profitable without a large broadcast deal. It needs more exposure than the measly audience YouTube offers. Not that it really matters because of the amount of money the Saudi’s can throw at LIV. 😏 Barkley met with Norman and insinuated a TV deal was coming. My guess is Barkley will jump to LIV.

                        Barkley has said he eventually wants to retire and doesn’t want to die on TV. Lol If he leaves TNT and goes to LIV he essentially will die on TV with only 60,000 to 80,000 viewers on YouTube. Lol

                            This applies to the owners and how they made their riches (across all the major sports) as well.
                            The HOF's would be on fire right now.

                                  Sneakylong Let me just say this. I was a huge Boston Celtics fan growing up in the 1960’s. Back then many players had offseason jobs. They weren’t playing for a lot of money. The money wasn’t that great.

                                  Loved the Celtics too, but I get the feeling you want athletes to keep suffering and not make any money. We respect the hell out of people that came before us that had to work really hard to achieve what they did, but can't we be happy that now later generations don't have to kill themselves as much?

                                  My kids have a great work ethic (well my oldest any way lol), but I hope they don't have to work as hard as I did (and still am) to have a good life. Sadly it seems like they may have to work even harder. Yes athletes from the bygone era had to work hard for not much pay, but I'm sort of happy owners, leagues, etc are sharing the wealth a bit more now. If only we can get greedy corporations to do the same for engineers, factory workers, accountants, et al.

                                        Not at all. I’m all for getting as much money as you can. I’m all for NIL’s in college football for example.

                                        I’ve stated if Bezos or Musk were behind LIV I’d have no problem. I would still think players would be lessening their legacies etc..

                                        I agree with Paul McGinnley that the business model in Pro golf will probably change to guaranteed money. Not sure as a fan I like that. But it seems inevitable.

                                        Yes, I’m all for demand side economics (opposed to supply side / trickle down). Put the money in the hands of the masses and have a bottom up economy.

                                        Progressive tax policy instead of regressive tax policy etc.. A job is created because there is demand for a good or service and not because a rich person gets a tax cut etc..

                                            Might not be such a bad thing, having a bigger incentive for the top players to play more tournaments. I don't watch many of the tournaments, like the one going on this week, due to all the absolute 'has-beens' that can jump in.

                                            And I don't get the 'too many tournaments' some say they play too much of. A 'job' is normally 52 weeks/year, as I've learned. No matter what it pays.

                                            I'd like to see the 'sponsorships' banned. It makes players lazy, or so it seems. Companies want advertising, spend it through the public areas/media. Hell, most of those guys don't give a shit about the companies they rake money in from , anyway. They only care due to their bank accounts. They would then have more time to 'work', (see: play tournaments).

                                            Plus, ProV1 balls would be cheap enough for GB members to buy, when not lining the lockers of the shills. 😄

                                                Subsonic Imagine how cheap they would be if Titleist was not putting 6 dozen in the lockers of those that use them, every tournament. Plus paying them to wear the stupid hats.
