Anyone ever purchase a mattress this way? I decided to take the plunge on a Queen sized foam/spring hybrid that was sub 200 and chock full of rave reviews on Amazon, Walmart, and bed/mattress bloggers (who knew)?

I was told this baby would take up to 48 hours to "uncoil". I got gypped. That sucker popped out ready for action. This may not be the smartest thing I've ever done but I tell ya I just had to do it...to try it.

First impressions... I heard the Commodores as I freshly lay on my new bed in a box... She's a ... Brick...House. Coming from a gigantic pillow top this little 8 incher (not mine) the mattress provided firmness I only wish I had in my inclining age.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone with back pain or anyone who loves a firm mattress. I love a firm toothbrush so this baby fits into my wheelhouse and I'm firm on that.

I know...you're dying to get one yourself... Watch this youtube (done by Stephen Hawking's wife) and you'll all magically become mattress hos.

Lol. Sounds more like Siri to me. Please tell me this entire thing was posted out of boredom with sarcasm?

We bought a memory foam mattress from Amazon a couple of years ago. I think it was a 12" queen size. Ratings were very good and the price was about 1/4 of a big name brand. It was about 80 lbs. but no big deal since we are Amazon Prime members and get free second day shipping. The mattress arrived in a box about the size of a bale of hay. Inside was the mattress vacuum packed in a plastic bag. Instructions said to drag it into the middle of the platform or box springs and cut the bag open. When we did that the mattress unfolded and started to grow. It was pretty amusing. I don't recall how long the process took but we slept on it that night. The mattress was a bit firmer than I expected and took some getting used to. I have to say that I am now sleeping better than ever and have not had a single back pain in six months which I have not experienced in many years. The one I have is from Sleep Innovations.

I have done and experienced the same thing as @Rickochet , only through Overstock. I ended up buying two, actually. The first, I ordered as a medium firmness (based off of the reviews) and it was a little too firm for me. So I bought another and ordered it as a soft and it has been great, Using the first one in a guest bedroom now.

I bought a latex mattress online in the firmest model and it was a marshmellow. I now have a sleep number and it is the best bed I have ever had.

I know a couple of people with them and they are happy, I plan to buy one for a guest bed in the near future, the cost is right and they seem pretty darn good.

I would recommend that Signature Sleep 8" Contour Mattress to anyone who likes a firm mattress. It's probably a notch, or two, firmer than I would like but I'll take that over too soft which is miserable to sleep on.

Just a fun way to buy a mattress if not stupid because you don't get to try it out first but for 200 bucks it's really not that big of a deal if it's not exactly what you like. The last mattress was store bought and was terrible...sometimes, those store impressions end up being wrong as you wouldn't really know until you slept a few nights on the mattress to know if it truly was going to work for you.

This one is growing on me...first night of sleep and it was just fine. Much better than the older significantly thicker and more expensive store model.

Also, we bought one of those metal frames for my son's room...75 bucks shipped and he has our old queen mattress and woke up today saying it's the best night of sleep he's had in ages. A nice frame that doesn't require a box spring. A very simple, inexpensive way to add a guest bed or whatever.

sdandrea1 That's way crazier than just a mattress in a bag. Wow. Pretty sweet. Have you used it as a chair or did you just use it as a guest bed for the grandkids?

We have used it as both a chair and mattress. It is surprisingly firm when spread on the floor.
