It's not that I don't think some teams don't deserve recognition. There are a lot of teams that have done very well, based on a lot of different factors, and a lot of those kids have undoubtedly earned another game this season.
I guess the problem, as it relates to me personally, is that I'm an attention-deficit fan. I'll tune in to watch OSU, Alabama, Washington, Michigan, etc. despite not exactly being a huge college football fan. The same with a lot of other sports as well. Can't follow baseball until it's the playoffs. Usually won't watch the NBA whatsoever, but if I do - it's in the finals. NFL - I still follow it (somewhat) even if my team is out of the picture, which is the case once again for like the umpteenth time in a row. Golf... I give golf more attention, but only because I play golf. I'll watch the final round of the Sony Open, or maybe watch the West Coast swing simply because I'm usually snowed in and can't play. But as much as I enjoy televised golf - I still struggle to stay interested once the majors are over, unless it's Ryder Cup.
For me, and only me personally as I can't speak to everyone else, my viewing habits are based primarily on my interest level. Given that I don't have an abundance of free time these days, I'm probably not watching a sporting event that doesn't offer some reasonable means of additional significance.
That's why I'm not big on the NIT, or a lot of these bowl games that don't factor into the interest level for me. But for others, there's obviously something there that might appeal to viewers unlike me.
