I went into my fitting thinking the P790's were one of the main contenders along with Mizuno, but didn't care for them as much. Even on the launch monitor I got some huge 7i iron shots from the P790 that I didn't see from other irons. They seemed too hot at times although this was the previous model. I loved the look and feel, but I can't hit a 7i 160 and then 180 at my course without hardship.
Nothing was beating out my Apex Pro 16 irons until I tried the Miura CB301. I was on the verge of sucking it up and spending a boatload of money when the pro hands me the P770 and says "This iron is similar to the P790, but I haven't seen the big jumpers out of it". I thought it looked too small, I wanted a larger head than the Apex Pro, but it was much more consistent and felt great. I was sold.
